Clinical Psychologists and counselors are in increasing demand at various professional settings that deal with mental health needs. The role of a clinical psychologist is being rapidly recognized in health care and they are consulted for a variety of purposes, ranging from assessment, therapy, and rehabilitation to expert advice. Our uniquely designed curriculum is in accordance with the guidelines of UGC and current needs of the community/society. It covers not only the foundation/theoretical aspects of the discipline but also integrates practical and field training for becoming professionally skilled graduates. Project/dissertation work also provide research skills training.


 Teaching pedagogy is in accordance with the curriculum and mainly student centered. It involves use of audio-visual aids, practicum, field training, experiential learning, problem based learning sessions and supported by guest lectures/seminars and workshops. Project/dissertation presentation also mandatory.

Unconventional learning exercises include student’s Seminars, Quiz Sessions, Question Hours, Small Group Discussions, Student Presentations and Case Study presentation/discussion.

 Clinical Psychology OPD is functioning under Department of Psychiatry. Under the guidance of trained clinical psychologist, students acquire knowledge and skills in handling different patients with various psychological problems and disorders.

  • OPD is equipped with various psychological tests and instruments to assess and diagnose the mental health problems of patients. Biofeedback is a widely used technique for therapy and OPD has latest technology equipment for biofeedback training. There is a huge inflow of patients on a daily basis and clinical psychologist, with the collaboration of psychiatrists work together to manage cases.
  • IPD has facilities for patients who require supervised care due to their needs. Patients are managed following ethical considerations and a team of nurses and other health care professionals are available for the management of patients.


Students are placed for field training/project work with different hospitals like

Max, GTB, Cha Cha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya, IHBAS,VIMHANS, Sir Ganga Ram.

We are also in the process of tie ups with Schools; special schools; Juvenile/welfare homes; and various NGO’s etc.

 Brainstorming Session

On 8th of October 2015 faculty of Behavioral Sciences organized a brain storming session for the students of Department of Clinical psychology. In presence of all the faculty members students discussed adjustment issues faced by them in and outside the university. They were guide by their mentors as well as other faculty members for effective problem solving skills.

Group Discussion

On 4th of November 2015 faculty of Behavior Sciences organized a group discussion on theme “What Makes Us Happy” with the faculty and students of Clinical Psychology Department. It was held in department lab 2 Two speakers Prof. ( Dr.) Bharma (mathematics department, SGTU) and Dr. Rana (Faculty of engineering, SGTU) were invited in the discussion. Students suggested that personal satisfaction led self centered happiness, when we link our selves with nature (which include other living species) it gives us real happiness. Session concluded with psychological perspective on the satisfaction of human needs, and its relation with happiness through the Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. It is a theoretical formulation of researched views on satisfaction of needs which signify the themes of the discussion.
