INTERNATIONAL WEBINAR ON 19TH NOVEMBER, 2020
Advanced Stomatodiagnostician Association in collaboration with the Department Of Oral Medicine And Radiology, organized an International webinar on the topic "The Maxillary Sinus in 3D- What Dentists need to know about health and disease?" at 4:30pm on 19 November 2020. The resource person for the webinar was Dr. Michael Bornstein, Prof & Head of the Department of Oral Health and Medicine, University of Basel, Switzerland. The lecture was an insight into the importance of Oral Radiology and emphasized the maxillary sinus in 3-D imaging and various pathologies affecting the maxillary sinus. The webinar was one of a kind and gave a very unique perspective about Maxillofacial Radiology through #interesting cases and clinical scenarios. The panelists were Dr. Mandeep Grewal, Dr. Archna Nagpal, Dr. Amit Bhardwaj, Dr. Shantanu Dixit, Dr. Vishesh Yadav and Dr. Anuridhi Choudhary. It was attended by more than 160 participants including senior faculty members and students from different dental colleges across the world. It was a very insightful and interesting presentation and a great learning experience for all.
WORLD RADIOLOGY DAY ON 6TH NOVEMBER 2020
Advanced Stomatodiagnostician Association at Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, "World Radiology Day 2020" on 6th November 2020 by organizing a webinar on “Unlocking the Temporomandibular Joint- Imaging and Interpretation” at 11:00am. The #resource person for the webinar was Dr. Ambika Gupta, Prof, and Head, Dept of Oral Medicine and Radiology, Post Graduate Institute of Dental Sciences (PGIDS), Rohtak who discussed the various imaging modalities for TMJ and shared her own experiences and cases regarding the various #pathologies affecting the TMJ. It was attended by more than 170 participants including faculty members and students from different dental colleges across India. It was a very insightful and interesting presentation and a good learning experience for all.
“World No Tobacco Day” On 31st May 2020
Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, Faculty of Dental Sciences, SGT University organized “Online poster presentation competition” on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, 31st May 2020. The topic of poster was based on the theme “Protecting Youth from Tobacco use”. The presentation was submitted digitally to the Department between 25th -27th May 2020. There was an enthusiastic participation of 45 students; both postgraduates and undergraduates of SGT University. We had a overwhelming response and posters of eminence were received for the event. These digital presentations were judged by Dr. Anil Gupta, Professor and Head, Department of Pedodontics and Dr Aparna Dave, Professor and Head, Department of Oral Pathology. All the participants were given certificates and winners were granted certificates of appreciation.
Workshop on CBCT 2019
The association organised a CDE programme on "Applications of Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) in Dentistry” on 17th December 2019 by Dr.Shalu Rai, Director PG Studies, Professor and Head at IDST, Kadrabad, Modinagar, U.P. on “Normal Anatomic Landmarks and its application” and Dr. Aditya Patney, Consultant and Head, Department of Dentomaxillofacial Imaging, Mahajan imaging on “Common Artefacts on CBCT” followed by a “hands-on course”. The lectures highlighted the practical aspects of CBCT including anatomy and the artefacts. The Hands-on workshop included the software demonstration for Impacted Canines and Implant Simulation. The Workshop was very interactive and insightful for all in-house as well as external delegates.
World Radiology Day 2019
The association celebrated “World Radiology Day” on 8th November 2019 by conducting a Guest lecture on “Judicious use of Radiology in clinical practice” by Dr.Sunita Gupta, Professor & Head, Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences, New Delhi.. The students and staff members were apprised about the ill effects of radiation and how to minimize the exposure for patients as well as for self.
Teachers's Day 2019
Dept of Oral Medicine & Radiology of Faculty of Dental Sciences celebrated 'Teachers Day' which was graced by senior university officials and faculty members. A cultural extravaganza including role play skit, dance performances (retro and classical) was organized in gratitude for their teachers. They also dedicated songs and titles to each faculty member and ended the program with vote of thanks and a beautiful recital of poem to express their love for their teachers.
Field Visit to Fortis Hospital
Advanced Stomato-diagnostician Association constituted under Dept of Oral Medicine and Radiology, Faculty of Dental Sciences went for a field trip to specialised Oncology Dept, Fortis hospital and research institute Gurugram on 28Sept 2019. The team constituted of faculty, post graduates, Interns, final year and third year students. The students were shown and explained Positron Emission Topography and SPECT. They had a tour to Radiation Oncology division also and were explained about radiotherapy.
World No Tobacco day – 31st May 2019
On World No Tobacco Day 2019, Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, Faculty of Dental Sciences, SGT University organized Patient awareness talk in B block. The Awareness lectures were given by Post-Graduates students and Faculty members explaining the harmful effects of Tobacco use and how to quit the habit. More than 100 patients and their attendants participated in the awareness talk. One Patient also shared his views and past experiences, he explained that how costly is the treatment of Cancer and ask the audience to stop using tobacco products. Patients were given demo about self examination of their oral cavity by which they can examine their oral cavity to see any changes after tobacco use. Then Pledge was taken by all the attending patients, students, non-teaching and faculty members that they will never use the tobacco products and also encourage others to stop the habits.
Tobacco awareness for Non-teaching staff – 30th May 2019
Dept. of Oral Medicine & Radiology, Faculty of Dental Sciences organized a lecture -cum workshop on Tobacco awareness for Non-teaching staff in TV studio, B Block SGT University on 30th May 2019 in lieu of World No Tobacco day. A total of 100 participants attended the program. Awareness Lectures were taken by Faculty member and PG students describing them about the harmful effects of tobacco use and how to quit the habit of tobacco use. A role play was shown to the participants regarding the Self Examination of Oral cavity and participants are included in the same. Few participants also share their views and experiences regarding awareness and harmful effects of the tobacco use. The program was concluded with a Pledge taken by all the participants that they will not use tobacco products and also aware their friends and family members.
Collage competition on the theme of WHO 2019 theme - Tobacco and Lung Health – 29th May 2019
On 4th day of a A week long celebrations of No Tobacco day, Dept. of Oral Medicine and Radiology, FDS, SGT University organized a collage competition on the theme of WHO 2019 theme - Tobacco and Lung Health at CLC center, E block SGT University on 29th May 2019, from 10.00 to 11.00 am. 20 Teams i.e. 40 participants participated in the competition showing their amazing skills with great enthusiasm and competitive spirit comprising of UG, PG studentsIntern and Faculty member of Faculty of Dental Sciences, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Ayurveda, Faculty of Physical Sciences and Faculty of Medicine and Health." These collages will be displayed at various places to create awareness against the tobacco use. Faculty of Dental Sciences Interns Nancy and Srishti got the First Position and Final year students of Faculty of Indian Medical System, Mr. Ajay and Mr. Aditya got Second position.
Display / Sign boards for COTPA act 2003 rule implementation. 28th May 2019
On 4th day of a A week long celebrations of No Tobacco day, Dept. of Oral Medicine and Radiology, FDS, SGT University installed board in various buildings/blocks of SGT University displaying "This is no smoking zone and its a punishable act" These boards are according to the COTPA act 2003, Govt. of India. This declares SGT University as No smoking zone and violaters will be prosecuted as per COTPA act". As per COTPA act 2003, sale of Tobacco products are banned around 100 meter area of SGT University and display sign are pasted across the boundary
Setting up of the Patient awareness Booth on 27th May 2019
On Third day of a week long celebration of No Tobacco Day 2019, a patient awareness booth was setup for a week till 31st May 2019 in Dental OPD waiting area to aware the patients and public visiting the Dental OPD about the harmful effects of the use of tobacco. Pamphlets were also distributed containing the information regarding the harmful effects of tobacco use. Patient were given demo about self examination of oral cancer. Dental interns, PGs and Faculty of Oral Medicine and Radiology conducted the awareness against tobacco use. This booth will be there for 1 complete week till 31st May 2019.
Workshop on Tobacco Cessation on 25th May 2019
Dept. of Oral Medicine & Radiology, FDS, SGT University organized a Workshop on “Tobacco cessation” on 25th May 2019 from 9.30 am to 2 pm at TV studio, B block (FDS) 3rd floor to create awareness of harmful effects of tobacco use in lieu of World No tobacco day. The workshop was organized by Tobacco Cessation Clinic, Dept. of Oral Medicine and Radiology. A team from MAIDS, New Delhi comprising of Dr. Vikrant Mohanty, Prof. and HoD, dept. of Public health dentistry MAIDS and Dr. Puneet Chahar, Research officer VMMC. They trained the delegates on how to approach a patient who uses any form of tobacco and what steps to be taken to motivate the patients to stop the habit of using tobacco. They also share their different cases and told about the NRT therapy by explaining how and when to give different pharmacological tobacco replacement. A total of 90 delegates, including Interns, Post Gradutes and Faculty members from Faculty of Dental sciences, Faculty of Medical and health sciences, Faculty of Ayurveda attended and benefitted from the workshop.
Department Oral Medicine and Radiology and Department of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, Faculty of Dental Sciences of SGT University Gurugram organized its First International Conference with prominent Universities from Spain: University of Barcelona and University of Seville under the Aegis of Delhi- NCR State Chapter- AOMSI on 19th and 20th of April 2019 on the topic Oral Surgery, Medicine and Oral Implantology.
CDE ON “Role of Neuromuscular Dentistry in the management of Craniofacial Pain & Sleep Apnea”
A CDE ON “Role of Neuromuscular Dentistry in the management of Craniofacial Pain & Sleep Apnea” was organized by the Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology, FDS, on 18th March 2019. Dr. Rajesh Raveendranathan, Founder President of ICCMO-India section (International College of Craniomandibular Orthopedics), a pioneer in the Neuromuscular Dentistry, Dental Sleep Medicine and Dental Sports Medicine, was the guest speaker for the event. The program was attended by delegates from All the dental departments, and Dept of ENT, Physiotherapy, Neurophysiology. The management of Craniofacial Pain and Sleep Apnea following the protocols of Neuromuscular Dentistry were highlighted. This new super specialty in dentistry will add new dimensions to the dental practice.

Inauguration of Cone Beam Computed Tomography Machine (CBCT)
SGT Centre for Maxillofacial Imaging was inaugurated on 17-01-2019 by Honorable President of DCI, Dr. Dibyendu Mazumder. It is equipped with Cone Beam Computed Tomography Machine that can produce 3D images of maxillofacial structures with minimal exposure. The inaugural ceremony was organized by the Dept of Oral Medicine and Radiology, FDS headed by Dr Suma GN. It was attended by all the HODs and faculty members of all dental departments. The center is equipped with High Tech CBCT-Planmeca Promax 3D Proface machine which provides high resolution precise images in minimal radiation dose.

BASIC LIFE SUPPORT- WORKSHOP
A WORKSHOP ON “BASIC LIFE SUPPORT” was organized by the Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology, FDS, under the aegis of Indian Academy of Oral Medicine & Radiology on 16th and 17th March 2018. The participants included interns, undergraduate and post graduates students, residents, faculty members from, Faculty of Dental Sciences, Faculty of Medicine & health research, Faculty of Indian medical system, Faculty of Nursing, & faculty of Physiotherapy. Around 108 delegates from various centres like Jamia Milia Islamia Dental college, Private practioners from Bareli, Gurugram participated in the workshop.
Facilitators of the program were, Dr M.Anand, Emergency physician, Dr. Ravindra Verma, Emergency physician, and Mr. Chaitanya, instructor from ITC, International trauma care, Hyderabad Chapter.

International Radiology Day
Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, Faculty of Dental Sciences observed “International Radiology Day” on 17th November 2016 in the gracious presence of respected Vice Chancellor Dr Shyam Lal Singla , University Advisor Mr NK Singh , Dean Dr Akshay Bhargava, Dean research Dr MS Sidhu, Dean examinations and international affairs Dr HS Grover, Head of Department Dr Suma GN and all the HODs and senior faculty members of Faculty of Dental Sciences . Radiology week was celebrated starting from 8th November 2016 and comprised of various radiology related events. Oral and maxillofacial radiology Quiz competitions and black and white Rangoli competition were held for BDs final year students and interns. The winners of these events and the highest scorers of BDS final year in Oral Medicine and Radiology were facilitated by respected Vice Chancellor sir.

Dept of Oral Medicine and Radiology in collaboration with Dept of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery observed “World No Tobacco Day” on 31st May 2016. The day was marked by:
1. Display of educational audio visual documentary to the patients.
2. Self examination for early detection of oral cancer
3. Tobacco cessation advice.
Dr. Akshay Bhargav and Dr. Suma GN guided the team for conduction of program. Dr. Lavina, Dr. Rahul, Dr. Ankur, Dr. Tamanna and Dr. Jyoti delivered health talks and held interactive sessions with patients.
