Orientation Programme of Faculty of Law held on September 3, 2016
“You have to become agents of change and perpetuate justice in society”, “You have to work for an inclusive India where everyone to whatever gender caste or class they may belong, must get Justice and Recognition”, were some of the ideas expressed by Hon’ble Justice Dr. Dhananjaya Chandrachud, Judge Supreme Court of India during his address to the students of Faculty of Law, SGT University at their Orientation Programme on Sept.3, 2016. It was indeed a Red letter day in history of SGT University when the students were fortunate to be addressed by a learned Judge of Supreme Court of India who combines in himself the qualities of a scholar,a thinker and above alla sensitive human being committed to instil values in youth and impart justice in society. The students were spell bound and mesmerised by the words of the learned judge who motivated them not only to study their subject but also become agents of change in society. Punctuated by examples and incidents from his own experience the speaker made his speech a great learning experience for the students. The student felt honour to accord to the learned judge a standing ovation. Hon’ble Justice V.B. Gupta,Former Judge, Delhi High Court who was the guest of honour at the Orientation programme shared with the students some of his experiences, impressed upon them that the study of law will not only train them for an independent profession and make them learned scholars but also become a source of affluence. He motivated them to work hard and become good lawyer and judges who can impart justice in society. Earlier Prof. Dr. Suman Gupta, Dean, Faculty of Law presented the welcome address and introduced the learned speakers to the audience. She informed the audience that Hon’ble Justice Dr. Dhananjaya Chandrachud after his graduation in Law from Campus Law Centre, Delhi University attained his Masters and Doctorate from the prestigious Harvard Law School.
Dr. T.D. Dogra, Pro Vice Chancellor, SGT University in his Presidential remarks praised both the learned speakers and thanked them for making it convenient to come to SGT University to motivate the students. Prof. Khanna while presenting the vote of thanks expressed his praise for learned speakers &also praised the students for being a
good audience.
