Senior Prof. (Dr.) Ravi Kant Mittal is Director Academics at SGT University. He is looking after academic administration at SGTU that encompasses curriculum review, benchmarking and upgrade; academic policies and procedures; student academic associations; research and innovation; academic staffing; Sanrachna, etc. Prof. Mittal has a deep understanding of and conviction in, rigorous academic processes and the importance and benefits of these for a university.
Prof. Mittal’s passion has been teaching and research and he was a popular and respected teacher among students and faculty colleagues. He has published more than eighty papers in international and national journals of repute, two books, many chapters in books and has guided several doctoral and postgraduate researchers. His guided projects AcYut and IFOR received international accolades and acclamations. His academic interests are in robotics, mechatronics, MEMS, nanotechnology, design & production, software engineering, and e-waste, and administrative interests are in academic administration in higher education. He obtained his B.E. (Hons.), M.E. (Mechanical Engineering) and Ph.D. (Software Engineering) from BITS Pilani.
Before joining SGTU, Prof. Mittal has been with BITS Pilani for more than four decades and served in various roles, including highest academic designation and highest administrative position. Throughout his long meritorious vocation as a teacher, researcher, and administrator, he served with distinction and left a mark. At BITS Pilani, he had been Unit Chief, Computer Assisted Housekeeping Unit, which developed and provided for all administrative and management computing needs of BITS Pilani; Dean of Academics, Registration, and Counselling; Deputy Director (Administration); Director, BITS Pilani Dubai Campus, and Director, Special Projects. He was also the Vice-Chancellor of a Haryana state private university for the three years’ term. In that tenure, he built very strong systems for the academics and administration for the university in making.
