SGT University in its endeavour to carry forward its vision, where research & development in the various faculty disciplines, is being undertaken very seriously at the university. For any University and more so for us too, the resources available in the form of faculty members & students are the strength driving dreams to reality.

The emergence of Start-Up culture in India is a relatively new phenomenon. India is today undergoing a fundamental shift with entrepreneurship & innovation being primary catalysts in job creation and solving everyday problems. A decade ago, there used to be only a handful of Indian Start-Up success stories such as MakeMyTrip.com and Naukri.com. But now, with successes such as Flipkart, Quickr, Practo, Zomato, and InMobi, the Indian Start-Up Ecosystem has indeed come a long way.

Entrepreneurship in India is on the verge of explosive growth. This also throws new opportunities for the eco-system to take shape. Angel investors, venture capital, media, startup clubs, service providers, mentors and training companies are going to grow. And one important cog in the wheel is the incubator – the place where startups are born. When a baby is born, he/she is kept in the incubator for first few hours and maybe days – this gives them a chance to adjust to outside environment, and grow stronger before they face the outside world! In a justified way, a startup is incubated in Incubation Center, which gives them a chance to bring their business in shape, before they reach out to the world.

In the same area, the university has set up an Incubation Cell where research ideas being generated from the academia as well as industry, can be shaped up to be fruitful conceptions of the society.

This objective of the Incubation Cell is to carry forward niche projects focusing on basic & advanced specialized education in all the disciplines being pursued through faculties at the university. Through the proposals on research & development, we are proposing to work with Industries of National & International repute, Government Bodies and Entrepreneurship or Startup Engagement programs.

This platform is presently being carried forward by a four-member group of Dr Shourya Tandon, Faculty of Dental Sciences; Dr. Tara Shankar, Corporate Resource Center; Mr Aman Dureja, Faculty of Engineering & Dr Yogesh Mehta, Faculty of Commerce & Management with appropriate guidance of senior experienced mentors at the University level.
