Report on 3rd Agri Leadership Summit at Rohtak

Haryana government has organized 3rd Agri Leadership Summit- 2018 at Rohtak from 24-26 March, 2018. The students of FAS (Faculty of Agricultural Sciences) visited this summit on 26/03/2018. There were many pandals related to irrigation system, fisheries, fertilizers, livestock, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna (PMFBY), Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana etc. NIFTM (National institute of food technology entrepreneurship and management) stall were also there. Students visited almost all the stalls. A farmer from UP has designed and fabricated a solar operated wheel hand hoe. It seemed to be a very effective, efficient, handy and economical for use in agriculture to remove the weeds from the crop. This farm requirement can further be improved for field agriculture work. One more farmer has developed brinjal variety (Long) through selection method which is yielding 3-4 times more than the existing varieties. This was really an interesting variety and the farmer gave us some seeds to try at our farm. One young farmer of Pehowa was demonstrating the easy growing of mushroom in polythene socks. This technology can be adopted at our university. The students can start their own entrepreneurship with this technology. One farmer from a village near Farukhnagar was demonstrating this technique of successful rearing of sweet water pearl (mollucs). It was again very interesting and can be tried over here for starting a new entrepreneurship for emerging agricultural students. Students also visited animal expo stall where different breeder bulls, male buffalo and horses were kept to demonstrate to the public. Breeder male buffalo like Rustom and Yuvraj were of great attraction. The attendant of Yuvraj told the students how to feed and what to feed to maintain the health of this animal. He also explained in details how to collect the semen from this animal and where to supply. He also explained economics related to artificial insemination. The students were highly impressed by this technology and showed their interest in such type of entrepreneurship after their graduation. In addition to this, there was a display of latest innovations, technologies and farm machineries from CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar. Our students interacted in details regarding the technology developed at CCSHAU Hisar with the faculty of agriculture and showed their interest to adopt at their own farms.
