Field Visit to Sewage Treatment Plant, Dhanwapur, Gurugram

An Industrial-cum-Academic field visit to sewage treatment plant was organized for the final year BDS students and Postgraduate students of Public Health Dentistry on 10th April 2019. The event was planned and organized by the Department of Public Health Dentistry, Faculty of Dental Sciences in collaboration with authorities at the Dhanwapur Sewage Treatment Plant, Gurugram. The group of Final Year BDS students and Post Graduates of Public Health Dentistry was led by the Faculty members Dr. Sachin Chand, Dr. Amrita Jaggi & Dr. Ankit Kalra along with Mr. Hare Ram as support staff. The field trip was designed to expose students to sewage treatment unit operations, Sewage treatment is the process of removing contaminants from municipal wastewater, containing mainly household sewage plus some industrial wastewater. Physical, chemical, and biological processes are used to remove contaminants and produce treated wastewater that is safe enough for release into the environment. This field visit proved to be useful for students as they learnt the insight about sewage treatment process and usage of the same treated water.
