SGTU 7th Convocation – 2020
SGT University organised its 7th Annual Convocation from 29 February to 2 March, 2020 at the University campus. The event was marked with great enthusiasm and fanfare. Degrees were conferred to students for their academic performances. The Convocation paved the way for new beginnings for the students. Total 476 degrees were awarded to the graduate and the post-graduate students of Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Faculty of Allied Health Science, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences ,Faculty of Dental Sciences, Faculty of Nursing, Faculty of Commerce and Management, Faculty of Physical Sciences, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Hotel and Tourism, Faculty of Physiotherapy, SGT College of Pharmacy, Faculty of Behavioral Sciences, Faculty of Mass Communication, Faculty of Fashion and Design and Faculty of Education were also awarded. Dr Shubhangi Gupta won the Late Smt. Champa Devi Memorial Gold Medal Award for the best MBBS graduate, instituted by Dr. Rakesh Kumar, IAS, Chief Advisor to UNDP India and Advisor to Hon’ble CM of Uttarakhand, in the year 2019.
All the three days of the convocation ceremony began with the ritualistic ‘Academic Procession’. The procession comprised of the Padma Shree Ram Bahadur Rai, Honorable Chief Guest, Honorable Guest of Honor, Chairperson Smt. Madhupreet Kaur Chawla, Managing Trustee Shri Manmohan Singh Chawla, CEO Prof. S. R. Musanna, Pro-Chancellor Dr. Sham Lal Singla, Vice-
Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Gurpreet Singh Tuteja, Registrar Mr N. N. Gupta and other notable dignitaries.
The first day of the Convocation started on a positive note with the arrival of Chief Minister of Haryana Hon’ble Manohar Lal Khattar who graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Prof. Dheeraj P. Sharma was the Guest of Honour. Convocation certificates were conferred to the students of Faculty of Medical Sciences. The second day of the event began with the arrival of Shri Alok Nigam, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary to Government of Haryana, Medical Education & Research Department, who graced the occasion as Chief Guest while Professor Shailendra Singh, Director, IIM, Ranchi, was the Guest of Honour. The third and final day concluded with Professor Anil D. Sahsrabudhe, Chairman, and All India Council for Technical Education as the chief guest. Professor Bharat Bhasker, Director, IIM, Raipur, was the Guest of Honour. The Convocation Ceremony encompassed inspiring speeches and heart felt emotions where students finally received reward for their accomplishments. The Convocation marked not the end, but start of a new journey where students get to see life through a new kaleidoscope and put their knowledge to the ultimate trial. SGT University is proud of its students who have strived through their college years and finally got to taste the sweet taste of success.
