World No Tobacco Day – Kukrola, Haryana

The Department of Public Health Dentistry, Faculty of Dental Sciences, SGT University conducted an oral health screening and treatment program on 31st May, 2019 in collaboration with Reliance Foundation in Kukrola Village, Jhajjar, Haryana. An awareness activity was organised in an open area within the camp site, that started with a speech on Tobacco, its ill-effects and how to quit the habit, to the local village people, followed by Dental Check up, that was headed by Dr. Tanvi Bhardwaj ( PG Third Year ) along with 3 other PG students, a tutor and 2 attendants. The event started at 10:30 am and continued till 2:00 pm. Around 62 people were examined including children as well. Oral Prophylaxis was provided to 15 patients. Patients who required complex dental treatment were referred to SGT University for further procedures. The people who were Tobacco users were assessed for their habits and appropriate Tobacco cessation guidance was imparted to them. The purpose of the Oral Health talk was to create awareness among the community regarding harmful effects of tobacco and make them understand the importance of quitting the habit.
