Oral Health Education & Awareness Drive by Departments of Public Health Dentistry and Pedodontics & Preventive Dentistry as part of Oral Hygiene Day Celebrations
Department of Public Health Dentistry and Department of Pedodontics & Preventive Dentistry collaboratively organised various activities to improve oral health education & awareness, on 1st August 2018 at various locations as follows on the occasion of Oral Hygiene Day and the occasion of National Oral Health Day celebrated by Indian Dental Association.
The program mainly covered oral health education, awareness, check-up and appropriate oral health product & IEC (Information, Education & Communication) material distribution.
The program was simultaneously organised at the following three locations:
- Out Reach Camp Location planned in collaboration with Publicity Team – Oral Hygiene importance was also imparted at an outreach location where children and adult people were given oral health education along with samples and IEC material.
- An on-campus walkathon involving all 3rd Year & 4th Year BDS Students highlighting the importance of Oral Hygiene – Almost 50 undergraduate students, post-graduates & faculty members participated in the walk wherein IEC material in local language was distributed to all patients waiting in dental OPD & Medical OPD areas. Students with their display charts silently highlighted the various important aspects of Oral Hygiene amongst all patients. Many patients took note of the simple oral health-related concepts and promised that they will get their dental check-up done.
- Inauguration of New Dental OPD Check-up & Referral clinic in SGT Hospital – This new clinic was inaugurated by Dr Sham Singla, Pro-Chancellor, SGT University, Dr Anil Gupta, Dean, Faculty of Dental Sciences & Dr Shourya Tandon, Prof & Head, Public Health Dentistry along with postgraduates from the department. This clinic will form as the referral centre for all the patients & their relatives visiting medical hospital who will be checked for their dental problems and made aware about possible treatment options at the advanced dental clinic facility.
These activities formed a source of inspiration for all to take note of their own oral hygiene.
