National Training on “Management of Beneficial Insects”

Three day national training program on management of beneficial insects was organized in the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, SGT University.

Dr. Rubia, a distinguished expert in the field of sericulture, delivered an insightful lecture focusing on the advancements and best practices in silk production. The lecture aimed to elucidate the intricacies of sericulture, including silk production techniques, mulberry cultivation, silkworm rearing, and the socio-economic significance of the silk industry. Session was followed by Dr. Arti, Senior Research Fellow in Network Project in Conservation of Lac Insect Genetic Resources, delivered a informative lecture on the fundamentals of lac production and its significance in the industry. Dr. Arti provided insights into lac cultivation techniques, including the establishment of lac nurseries, selection of suitable host trees, and inoculation of lac insects. The third session was conducted by Mr. Manoj by providing an overview of apiculture, highlighting its importance in agriculture, pollination, biodiversity conservation, and economic development. Apiculture, the practice of beekeeping for honey production and pollination services, offers numerous opportunities for entrepreneurship.
