Professor (Dr.) Waheeda Khan is currently advisor, SGT University and Professor, Department of Clinical Psychology, Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences at SGT University Gurugram, Delhi-NCR. She has more than 38 years of teaching, research and administrative experience in higher education. She has so far supervised 30 Ph.D students, and currently 8 other scholars are pursuing research under her guidance. Besides, she has also supervised Master’s students for their field training and research projects, including 6 students from Linkoping University, Sweden. She has to her credit over 80 research papers including 25 book chapters published in reputed indexed journals. She has also presented her work at 30 International and 50 national conferences.

She is currently pursuing DST funded research project “Neuro-cognitive correlates of prospective memory and emotion recognition in children with and without Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)” in collaboration with IIT, Mumbai. She has completed few more projects including UGC-UKIERI Thematic Partnership International Project (2014-16) funded by UGC and British Council; and published a significant article on “Contact, political solidarity and collective action: An Indian case study of relations between historically disadvantaged communities”. Another international GCH research project “Psychological responses, coping strategies and physical activity during the Covid-19 pandemic: A multiple country comparison study” was completed in 2020.

Before joining SGT University, Dr. Waheeda Khan has served as Head of the Department (July 2010 – June 2013); Directors of Sarojni Naidu Centre for Women’s Studies (2009 – 2010); University Counseling & Guidance Centre (2009-14); and Co-ordinator of IGNOU Study Centre of Jamia Millia Islamia (a Central University), New Delhi, India.

Her research areas cover intergroup contact, conflict-violence, mental health, emotion, coping and well-being among adolescents, women, and marginalized sections of society. She has been actively contributing in the advancement of research as a Member of Editorial Board of more than 10 National/International Journals and has also served on various academic bodies in India.

She has travelled number of countries to pursue her academic interests and visited USA (universities of New York, Minnesota, San Francisco & Portland), UK (Open University, Exeter, Plymouth) Canada, China, Australia, France, Italy, Sweden, Germany, Greece, Spain, Egypt, Turkey, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Hungary, Lisbon (Portugal), Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

She was instrumental in developing CBCS courses at UG and PG level, and diploma courses in Guidance & Counseling, Behavioural Medicine etc. She was reviewer of cross-cultural psychology module (1-40) in a National project (UGC), known as “e-PG Pathshala”. She was nominated Nodal Training Officer in HIV/AIDS counseling by NACO, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, and has organized number of training programs for defense, paramilitary personnel, and counselors, and has also organized number of workshops/symposia/seminars, both National and International level. She has delivered talks, keynote addresses, chaired number of conference/seminar sessions in various academic programs and also participated in panel discussions organized by National media. Winner of awards for her significant contribution, she has been the recipient of ARTS program twice, which is given by International Union of Psychological Sciences, and Fellowship of the Year award by National Environment Science Academy, and distinguished psychologist award by AIIMS, Delhi. She started her research career as University Grants Commission’s Junior Research Fellow, later worked as Senior Research Fellow and Post-Doctoral Research Fellow.
