The Doctor of Philosophy (English) programme provides advanced study and research in the English language, literary theory, translation studies, Indian literature, gender studies, linguistics, visual arts, the literature of discovery, literary and scientific encounters with other cultures, postcolonial literature, modernism, postmodernism, film studies, and cultural studies. These are all areas of emphasis in the programme.
The programme’s coursework covers major periods, genres, writers, and a wide range of methodological and theoretical perspectives. Students can establish the fundamental approaches and issues of their dissertation project with the aid of the literary theory and methodology module. Aspirants receive strong support throughout the programme.
