Fostering Safe Learning Ecosystems to Enhance Faculty and Student Performance

The Faculty of Nursing, in collaboration with the Centre of Excellence for Andragogical and Pedagogical Sciences (CEAPS), successfully conducted a five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled “Fostering Safe Learning Ecosystems to Enhance Faculty and Student Performance” from 19th to 23rd January 2026 at SGT University. The programme was designed to strengthen faculty competencies in creating inclusive, psychologically safe, and student-centric academic environments.
The FDP commenced with an inaugural session graced by Prof. (Dr.) Atul Kumar Nasa, Pro Vice-Chancellor, under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Sunil Kumar Dular, Dean, Faculty of Nursing. The presence of Prof. (Dr.) Astha Chaudhry, Director, CEAPS, and Prof. (Dr.) Sarika Yadav, Associate Dean, Faculty of Nursing, further added value to the occasion. Day 1 featured a session by Prof. (Dr.) Abha Singh on “Psychological Safety for Faculty: Thriving Amid Academic Pressures,” which emphasized faculty well-being and the importance of supportive institutional cultures.

Day 2 focused on strengthening faculty roles in higher education through a session by Dr. Shivakumar Kandekar on ethical assessment practices and transparency in evaluation. This was followed by an engaging activity, “Team Psychological Safety Meter,” which encouraged reflection on trust, communication, and team dynamics.
Day 3 centered on enhancing faculty influence on student success. Ms. Parvneet Kaur conducted a session on recognizing student distress and providing timely support. The day concluded with a role-play session using the OARS framework, enabling participants to practice empathetic and effective communication strategies. Day 4 addressed conflict resolution and communication. Mr. Rohan Bhardwaj led sessions on managing academic conflicts and handling difficult conversations using structured frameworks such as PEACE and CARE.
The programme concluded on Day 5 with a session by Brig. Kiranjeet Kaur on creating safe learning environments, highlighting institutional responsibility toward student safety. The FDP culminated in a valedictory session, marking the successful completion of an enriching, interactive, and impactful learning experience for all participants.
