Rubric Design for Formative Assessment

The Centre of Excellence for Andragogical and Pedagogical Sciences (CEAPS) successfully organized an online session titled "Rubric Design for Formative Assessment" on 27th November 2024, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm via Zoom. The session was conducted by Prof. Hamdan Bin Said, Professor (Higher Education), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, and was attended by 85 participants, including deans, faculty members, and pedagogy coordinators. Prof. Hamdan shared valuable insights into the principles of rubric development, emphasizing the importance of simplicity in ensuring effective implementation.

He presented various rubric samples used in universities worldwide, highlighting their practical applications. Participants gained an understanding of rubric components and the two main types: analytical and holistic. Prof. Hamdan stressed aligning rubrics with programme outcomes, course outcomes, and the university’s mission and vision, while tailoring them to assess abilities at varying levels.
