Thriving in the New Learning Era: Uni 2.0

Uni 2.0: Thriving in the New Learning Era is an interactive group session designed to help university students adapt to changes in modern educational methods. This program addresses the shift towards more experiential and student-centric learning, which includes more self- study, interactive discussions, and hands-on activities.

Key Program Objectives

  • Understanding Change: Help students recognize and understand the new learning methodologies being implemented at the university.
  • Open Dialogue: Provide a safe space for students to share their challenges and perspectives on these changes.
  • Psychological Principles: Introduce students to the psychological aspects of change and resistance, helping them understand their own reactions (e.g., the Change Curve model).
  • Strategic Adaptation: Co-create practical strategies and tools to help students navigate the transition smoothly and succeed in the new academic environment.

The 2-hour session uses a structured, interactive format to engage students:

  • “Change Bingo” Icebreaker: An activity to help students identify with common experiences and open up discussion about their feelings regarding new learning methods.
  • Awareness Building: A facilitator-led discussion on “Why Are These Changes Happening?”, explaining how new pedagogies align with global education trends and prepare students for the workplace.
  • Mindset Shift Activity: A guided exercise to help students reframe negative thoughts about the changes into a growth-oriented perspective.
  • Group Reflection: Small-group discussions and an interactive board activity to identify what’s working and what needs improvement in the new system.
  • Coping Strategies: An introduction to practical strategies for time management, stress reduction, and seeking support.
  • Closing: A final reflection where students commit to a personal goal for adapting to the new learning environment.

The program is a calendar-based plan to be rotated across different departments, Each session is limited to 60 students to ensure effective engagement and meaningful discussion. This initiative aims to equip students with the skills and mindset needed to thrive in a dynamic academic landscape.
