About the Conference
The International Conference on Adaptations in Medicine, Sports,
Rehabilitation & Cardiovascular Sciences is jointly organised by the
School of Physiotherapy, SGT University, Gurugram, in collaboration
with the International Society for Adaptive Medicine (USA).
This conference aims to bring together scientists, clinicians,
physiotherapists, sports scientists, and researchers to explore the
evolving science of biological adaptation across medicine,
rehabilitation, sports, and cardiovascular health.
The conference emphasises interdisciplinary dialogue, translational
research, and evidence-based clinical practice, focusing on
cardiovascular resilience, functional optimisation, and adaptive
physiological mechanisms.

International Speakers
Dr. Singla is a translational scientist specializing in stem cells, exosomes, cardiotoxicity, and
diabetes-related cardiac diseases. He has over 100 publications and is a Fellow of FAHA, FAPS, and FIACS.
Dr. Paras Kumar Mishra is internationally recognized for his contributions to diabetes and heart failure
research. His work focuses on diabetic heart disease, cardiometabolic remodeling, and therapeutic
innovation. He is a Fellow of FAHA and FAPS.
Dr. Sanjay V. Malhotra, Ph.D., FRSC, is Professor in the Department of Cell, Development & Cancer
Biology, Sheila Edwards-Lienhart Endowed Chair in Cancer Research, and Director of the Centers for
Experimental Therapeutics and Radiopharmaceutical Research at Oregon Health & Science University. An
internationally recognized leader in translational cancer research and drug discovery, his work focuses on
novel therapeutics, chemical biology, radiopharmaceutical sciences, and precision medicine. Dr. Malhotra has
authored over 170 peer-reviewed publications, edited five scientific books, and holds more than 20 patent
applications. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) and Fulbright Specialist, he continues to
advance cancer therapeutics while mentoring the next generation of scientists and innovators.
Dr. Raj Kishore is a physician-scientist and Professor who serves as the Vera J. Goodfriend Endowed Chair in
Cardiovascular Research and Chair of Cardiovascular Sciences at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine. He also
holds leadership roles in the Aging + Cardiovascular Discovery Center, the Lemole Center for Integrated
Lymphatics and Vascular Research, and the Department of Medicine. His research focuses on cardiovascular
disease, heart repair, and regeneration, particularly developing innovative therapies to repair the heart
after a myocardial infarction. A major area of his work is developing stem cell-derived exosomes as a
cell-free alternative to stem cell therapy. He is an active member of the American Heart Association,
American Stroke Association, American Association of Immunologists, and the American Association for the
Advancement of Science (AAAS).
Prof. Michal Masternak, Ph.D., is Professor of Medicine at the Burnett School of Biomedical Sciences,
College of Medicine, University of Central Florida. His research focuses on the genetic mechanisms of
healthy aging, longevity, and cancer, with expertise in exosomal miRNAs, aging biology, and targeted
interventions using human studies, animal models, and cell cultures. His laboratory also contributes to
space health research through omics studies, supporting biological sample collection and processing for
multiple private astronaut missions to the International Space Station.
Dr. Seela Ramesh, MD, is a board-certified gastroenterologist and Medical Director of the Gastroenterology
Institute of Orlando. He specializes in advanced therapeutic endoscopy, including ERCP and endoscopic
ultrasonography (EUS), with expertise in liver diseases. As a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at
the University of Central Florida, Dr. Ramesh is dedicated to advancing patient care, medical education, and
innovation in gastroenterology.
Dr. Mohtashem Samsam is a Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy and Director of Research at
AdventHealth University, USA. A physician and neuroscientist by training, he earned his MD from Albert
Szent-Györgyi Medical University, Hungary, and his PhD in Neurosciences from the University of Salamanca,
Spain. With extensive expertise in clinical neuroscience, neuroanatomy, and headache research, his work
focuses on migraine, neuroinflammation, and neurological disorders. Dr. Samsam has authored numerous
scientific publications and books, serves as Editor-in-Chief of Neuro-Open Journal, and has played a pivotal
role in developing medical and neuroscience education programs.
Dr. Johnson Rajasingh is a leading scientist in regenerative medicine and translational research. His work
focuses on cardiac and pulmonary repair using mRNA-based technologies and induced pluripotent stem cells
(iPSCs).
Dr. Shadab A. Siddiqi is an internationally recognized scientist specializing in lipoprotein metabolism,
intracellular lipid trafficking, and cardiovascular disease research. His pioneering discoveries, including
the identification of the VLDL transport vesicle (VTV). Supported by the NIH and the American Heart
Association, his research integrates cell biology, lipid biochemistry, and molecular genetics to investigate
mechanisms underlying dyslipidemia, metabolic disorders, and cardiovascular diseases. A widely published
investigator, he actively serves on national and international review panels and editorial boards,

Dr Martin Toms is an expert in youth sport and talent identification/development and talent transfer from an
international and also a socio-cultural perspective. He works on a national and international perspective
with federations and governing bodies (most notably the PGA of GB&I and also key agencies in India (such
as Sports Authority of India, JSW Sports and Inspire Institute of Sport). He is an expert in international
sport education and is the School of School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences (SportExR) lead
for global engagement.
Prof. Chia-Hua Kuo, Ph.D., FACSM, is Professor of Exercise Physiology and Sports Nutrition at The Education
University of Hong Kong and Distinguished Professor at the University of Taipei. He also serves as Honorary
Professor at the University of Jordan and Chulalongkorn University. A former President of the International
Society for Adaptive Medicine, the Asian Nutrition Society for Sports and Health, and the Taiwan Society for
Sports Nutrition, Prof. Kuo earned his interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Kinesiology, Biochemistry, and Molecular
Biology from the University of Texas at Austin. His research focuses on sports nutrition, human metabolism,
muscle regeneration, enhanced physical performance, improved body composition, and healthy aging.
Professor Ibrahim Dabayebeh is a distinguished Jordanian academic and Professor of Exercise Physiology at
the University of Jordan. A former Vice Dean of the School of Sport Sciences, he has held several academic
leadership positions and actively contributes to international sports science organizations. His research
focuses on exercise physiology, sports nutrition, Ramadan fasting and athletic performance, exercise
perception, and public health, with a commitment to advancing sports science and physical activity
initiatives across the Middle East.
Dr. Mohsin Khan, PhD, is an Associate Professor at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine, Temple University,
with appointments in the Aging + Cardiovascular Discovery Center and the Center for Metabolic Disease
Research. His research focuses on cardiac regeneration, stem cell biology, and the reactivation of embryonic
signaling to enhance heart repair after injury. Through innovative studies on cardiac progenitor cells,
microRNAs, and stem cell-derived exosomes, Dr. Khan aims to develop regenerative therapies for heart
disease, diabetes-related cardiac dysfunction, and age-associated cardiovascular disorders.
Dr. Zixi Jack Cheng, Ph.D., is a cardiovascular researcher whose work focuses on understanding how aging,
diabetes, and obstructive sleep apnea affect the autonomic regulation of the heart. His research
investigates the brain–heart axis, cardiac nerve regeneration, and the neural mechanisms underlying
cardiovascular diseases. Using advanced anatomical, physiological, and molecular techniques in animal
models, his laboratory aims to develop innovative strategies to prevent cardiac neuropathy, improve heart
function, and promote nerve repair.
Dr. Beshay Zordoky is an internationally recognized researcher in cardio-oncology and cardiovascular
pharmacology. His work focuses on minimizing cardiovascular complications and long-term adverse effects
caused by cancer therapies. He has published over 60 peer-reviewed articles and leads NIH and American
Cancer Society funded projects. He is a Fellow of the American Heart Association (FAHA).
Dr. Hanjabam Barun Sharma is a renowned Sports & Exercise Medicine Specialist and Medical & Clinical Physiologist with expertise in exercise physiology, lifestyle medicine, and performance optimization. He holds an MBBS, MD (Physiology), DSM (Sports Medicine), MAMS, and PhD qualifications. He serves as the Faculty In-charge of the Sports-Exercise Medicine & Sciences: Lifestyle & Performance Medicine Laboratory, Department of Physiology, Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (BHU). Dr. Sharma is the Founding President and Current General Secretary of the Indian Society of Sports and Exercise Medicine (ISSEM). Prof. Nirmal Kumar Ganguly is a distinguished biomedical scientist and public health leader, awarded Padma
Bhushan (2008). He has contributed to immunology, vaccinology, biotechnology, oncology, and global disease

Dr. Saurabh Sanyal is the Secretary General of ASSOCHAM and a distinguished corporate leader with over four decades of experience in strategic management, governance, infrastructure development, and public policy. A former Substantive Colonel in the Indian Army (Corps of Engineers), he has led major national and international projects, served as CEO and Secretary General of the PHD Chamber of Commerce, and worked closely with government ministries, global organisations, and industry leaders. Prof. (Dr.) Kunwar Shekhar Vijendra is a renowned educationist, institution builder, and social entrepreneur with more than three decades of experience in higher education. As the Co-Founder and Chancellor of Shobhit University, he has led transformative initiatives in academic excellence, research, innovation, and community engagement. He also serves as Chairman of the National Education Council at ASSOCHAM and actively promotes educational reforms, skill development, rural healthcare, and the integration of Indian knowledge systems with modern education.
Dr. Arpan Banerjee is a neuroscientist specializing in computational neuroscience, EEG/MRI/MEG analytics,
AI-based brain modeling, and neuroimaging research. He has over 19 years of experience and has led multiple
government-funded projects.
Dr. Rajat Sandhir is a distinguished neuroscientist, educator, and researcher with over 28 years of
experience in teaching and biomedical research. He serves as Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at
Panjab University, Chandigarh, and is internationally recognized for his pioneering contributions to
neurobiology, neuroprotection, and neurological disorders. His research focuses on understanding the
molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases, brain injury, and metabolic disorders, with the

of the CSIR–Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, he has made significant contributions to biotechnology,
translational research, and higher education. A Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India (FNA), Dr.

Dr. Vishal Bansal is Director-Professor and Head of the Department of Physiology at V. P. Chest Institute,

state-of-the-art Cardio-Pulmonary Rehabilitation Clinic at V. P. Chest Institute and has made significant

Physiotherapy, Exercise Sciences, and Health Promotion. An alumnus of the prestigious Manipal Academy of
Higher Education (MAHE), India, he currently holds the esteemed Dr. T.M.A. Pai Endowment Chair in Exercise
Sciences & Health Promotion. Dr. Maiya serves as the Chief Coordinator of the Centre for Diabetic Foot
Care and Research, MAHE, where he leads several multidisciplinary initiatives aimed at improving diabetic
foot management and rehabilitation. He has also spearheaded the internationally recognized project “Diabetic
Foot Care: Stepping Ahead,” funded by the World Diabetes Foundation (WDF), contributing significantly to
diabetes care and prevention strategies. A prolific researcher, Dr. Maiya has authored and co-authored more
than 140 peer-reviewed scientific publications, including systematic reviews and high-impact research
articles in internationally indexed journals. His research interests encompass diabetic foot care, exercise

Dr. Ali Irani is a distinguished Consultant Physiotherapist at Nanavati Max Super Speciality Hospital,
Mumbai, with over 42 years of clinical and academic experience. Former Physiotherapist to the Indian Cricket
Team (1987–1997), he is a renowned expert in sports physiotherapy, rehabilitation, and performance
enhancement. Dr. Irani has served on academic boards of leading universities, mentored postgraduate and PhD
scholars, and delivered lectures and workshops nationally and internationally. His contributions to

Dr. Vishwa Prakash Gupta is a highly respected Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapist with over four decades of
dedicated service in cardiothoracic, vascular, and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation. He currently serves as a
Consultant Physiotherapist in the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) at Fortis Escorts
Heart Institute, New Delhi. He is also associated with academia as Professor of Practice, Department of
Physiotherapy, Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS), Faridabad, and serves
as an Adjunct Professor at Jamia Hamdard University, New Delhi. A pioneer in cardiopulmonary physiotherapy
in India, Dr. Gupta previously served as the Chief Physiotherapist and Head of the Physiotherapy Unit,
Department of CTVS, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, where he played a pivotal
role in developing and strengthening physiotherapy services for cardiac and thoracic surgery patients. An

Prof. Rajesh Kumar is a highly esteemed academic and researcher in Physical Education with a career that
spans over 29 years. He earned his Bachelor's degree a Master’s degree and a Doctorate from the Osmania
University, Hyderabad, he serves as the Senior Professor of Physical Education at the University College of
Physical Education, Osmania University where he has made substantial contributions to both Teaching,
Research and Sports. Prof. Rajesh Kumar is a President, International Federation of Physical Education,
Fitness and Sports Science Association and Secretary General, Indian Federation of Computer Science in
Sports, Former Board of Director, International Association of Computer Science in Sports. Board of
Director, BRICS Council of Exercise and Sports Science. He has authored over 100 research papers published
in international and national journals and conferences and written 23 books in Physical Education and Sports
Science and also having two Patents.
Prof. Dr. Dobson Dominic is a leading Sports Medicine specialist and academician, currently serving as
Professor and Head, Department of Sports Medicine & Sports Sciences, Madha Medical College &
Research Institute (MMCRI), Chennai. He is the President of the Indian Society of Sports & Exercise
Medicine (ISSEM) and has served as the Sports Medicine Consultant to the New Zealand Cricket Team
(2016–2017) and the Tamil Nadu Badminton Team. A Gold Medalist in MD Sports Medicine, Dr. Dominic has played
a pivotal role in establishing Sports Medicine and Sports Science programs at leading institutions,
including Saveetha Medical College and Chettinad Medical College. He is also the Course Coordinator for the
NPTEL–IIT Madras Anti-Doping Program and a Board of Studies Member in Sports Biomechanics at the Tamil Nadu

Dr. C. Veerender is a renowned Sports Psychologist, Personality Development Trainer, and Director of You
& Me Counseling Center, Hyderabad. With extensive experience in sports psychology, counseling, and human
performance enhancement, he has worked with athletes, students, professionals, and government organizations
across India. He has served as Psychologist for the Sports Authority of Telangana and has supported
sportspersons at national-level competitions. An internationally recognized speaker, he has delivered

Prof. Major Dr. S. Bakhtiar Choudhary (Retd.) is a distinguished Sports Medicine specialist with extensive
experience in clinical practice, research, education, and sports healthcare. Having served both the Indian
Army and Apollo Hospitals, he currently leads several healthcare and educational initiatives, including
Hyderabad Spine Clinics and the Hyderabad Sports Medicine Education & Research Foundation. A renowned
sports physician, Dr. Choudhary has provided medical support to numerous national and international sports
teams across cricket, athletics, hockey, boxing, rowing, and other disciplines. His expertise spans sports

Dr. Kiran Kumar Kulkarni is a Consultant Sports Medicine Physician with over 21 years of experience in
sports medicine and athlete care. A former National Team Doctor for the All India Football Federation
(AIFF), he currently serves as Joint Secretary of the Indian Society for Sports and Exercise Medicine
(ISSEM) and as a Medical Officer with the Asian Football Confederation. A National Awardee and Fellow in
Sports Medicine, Dr. Kulkarni is also a FIFA- and BCCI-certified Doping Control Officer, recognized for his
expertise in sports medicine, athlete performance, and anti-doping.
Dr. Gagan Kumar is an Assistant Professor of Physiology with expertise in sports, cardiovascular, and space
physiology. He earned his MBBS, Postgraduate Diploma in Sports Medicine from NS NIS Patiala, and MD in
Physiology from AIIMS, New Delhi. His research focuses on cardiovascular fitness, exercise physiology,
cardiac autonomic function, and sports performance. An active member of several national professional
societies, Dr. Kumar is committed to advancing research and education in physiology and sports and exercise
medicine.
Prof. Bhagat Singh Rathee is Professor and former Chairman of the Department of Physical Education at Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak. With over two decades of postgraduate teaching and research experience, he is recognised for his contributions to physical education and sports sciences. A Gold Medalist, NET- and SET-qualified academic, he has completed advanced training at the Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports, Patiala. An accomplished basketball and korfball player, he has represented his university and state in national championships and continues to contribute significantly to sports education, research, and academic leadership.
Dr. Manohar Lal is Associate Professor and Chairperson in the Department of Physical Education at Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. With nearly two decades of academic and research experience, he specialises in Research Methodology, Sports Biomechanics, Weightlifting, Kabaddi, and Athletics. A Gold Medalist and recipient of the Best Teacher Award, he has authored six books, published over fifty research papers, led ICSSR-funded research projects, and mentored numerous doctoral scholars while actively participating in national-level weightlifting competitions.
Dr. Tarun Lala (PT) is a senior neurorehabilitation specialist with over 24 years of experience in acute and
long-term rehabilitation and is currently associated with Max Healthcare. Formerly Assistant Chief of
Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation at Apollo Hospital, New Delhi, he specializes in stroke, head injury,
spinal rehabilitation, and assistive technology. Dr. Lala has led innovative rehabilitation initiatives in
India and internationally, including developing a military rehabilitation center in Tanzania and low-cost
assistive technology solutions in collaboration with the University of Sheffield and IIT Delhi. He is a
founding member of the Indian Federation of Neuro Rehabilitation.
Dr. Prahlad is an accomplished Sports Physiotherapist and High-Performance Analyst with over 15 years of experience in elite sports medicine, injury prevention, rehabilitation, and athlete performance optimisation. Currently serving with the Sports Authority of India, he has supported national athletes across multiple Olympic disciplines and represented India at the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, World Championships, and Nations Cup. A BCCI Level-1 Accredited Physiotherapist, he specialises in evidence-based rehabilitation, return-to-play strategies, and interdisciplinary athlete care while actively contributing to sports science education through professional workshops.
Dr. Dorcas Gandhi is the Vice Principal and Professor at the College of Physiotherapy, Christian Medical
College & Hospital, Ludhiana, India, and Clinical Supervisor in the Department of Neurology. A leading
neurophysiotherapist and stroke rehabilitation researcher, her work focuses on context-specific stroke
rehabilitation, telerehabilitation, and clinical practice guidelines. She has held key leadership roles in
major international stroke rehabilitation trials, collaborates with the WHO South-East Asia Regional Office,
and has received several prestigious national and international awards for her contributions to stroke
rehabilitation research and practice.

Authors may indicate their preference for oral or poster presentation;
however, the final decision rests with the Scientific Committee.
All submissions will undergo peer review by the Scientific Committee.
Abstracts containing plagiarism or inappropriate AI-generated content
will be rejected/cancelled.
Only one author may present each paper/poster. The presenting author
must be identified at the time of submission.
No author may present more than one paper/poster.
