In the evolving global order, narrative diplomacy has emerged as a vital instrument of foreign policy, enabling nations to project their values, identity, and strategic intent through culture, heritage, and communication. In the context of changing dimensions of polar politics—where India is emerging as a major power and playing a pivotal role in reshaping the world order—the effective projection of its narrative diplomacy can serve as a decisive game changer in the international arena.
India’s deep-rooted civilizational legacy—encompassing philosophy, spirituality, knowledge systems, arts, and traditions—continues to shape its global image and influence. As one of the world’s oldest civilizations, India shares extensive cultural and historical linkages with many countries, particularly through Buddhism, ancient trade routes, and linguistic and artistic exchanges. These shared connections provide a strong foundation for building trust and cooperation.
However, the rapidly changing geopolitical landscape, marked by intensified competition for influence, calls for innovative approaches to leverage these cultural and historical assets. This conference will critically examine the shifting dynamics of India’s narrative diplomacy, exploring how diverse mediums— from Bollywood and social media to Buddhist diplomacy and diaspora engagement—can be strategically integrated to strengthen India’s global presence. It will also highlight emerging avenues such as food diplomacy and the renewed global interest in Indian knowledge systems, enabling India to project a multifaceted and cohesive narrative.
Aligned with India’s Track-II Diplomacy, the International Conference on “Changing Dynamics of India’s Narrative Diplomacy” will serve as a platform for dialogue among policymakers, diplomats, scholars, cultural practitioners, and media professionals, fostering collaborative strategies to advance India’s soft power and narrative influence.
