MOU with Special Olympics Bharat (SOB)

Faculty of Physiotherapy signed an MOU with Special Olympics Bharat (SOB)  accredited by Special Olympics International to conduct Special Olympics Programs in India on 18 January 2019. Special Olympics Programs are recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for Olympic type Athletics and Sports Programmes. SOB has been recognized by the Govt. of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in 2006, as the National Sports Federation in the ‘Priority’ category for the development of Sports for persons with Intellectual Disabilities. Representatives of SOB interacted with Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr Gurpreet Singh Tuteja, Registrar  Dr DK Sharma, Dean Dr Joginder Yadav and other members of the management. The MOU was signed by Registrar SGT University and CEO, Special Olympic Bharat Retd Air Marshal Denzil Keelor. The development will see links of the association in the areas of-Arranging and participating in training programs for promoting inclusion for people with Intellectual Disabilities through sports and Health Athletes camps and Facilitating technical and logistic support for the conduct of Health Athletes camps. Mr Denzil Keelor earlier in the day interacted with the students and emphasized the importance of accepting and promoting children with intellectual disabilities and the role of Physiotherapists in doing so.
