Industrial Visits to Civil Structure Designing Companies

Industrial visits at civil structure designing companies assist students in better understanding of software-related concepts as well as present networking opportunities for the students with the company's HR, thereby increasing the opportunities for internships, placements, etc. Designing civil structures gives all the vital information regarding foundations, floors, walls, beams, roof types, and the quality of materials to ensure that any structures built meet all the safety requirements. The prime purpose of engineering design is to apply scientific knowledge to the solution of technical problems.


 

Keeping this viewpoint, a visit to the SWECO INDIA PVT. LTD., Sector 30, Gurugram, Haryana, was conducted by the Department of Civil Engineering, School of Engineering & Technology, SGT University, on 21 February 2023. Students were highly interested in understanding the basics of BIM software and its applications in the Civil Industry. The instructor at the company highlighted the BIM approach as model-centric workflows (geometric and data models) that support project execution and asset lifecycle management. The speaker concluded the session on the role of BIM in construction management.
