School of Design Hosts Creative Garment Upcycling Workshop for DPS R.K. Puram Students

The School of Design at SGT University conducted a Creative Workshop on Garment Upcycling for students of DPS R.K. Puram on February 9th, 2024. The hands-on session aimed to introduce young minds to sustainable fashion practices by transforming old garments into stylish, new creations.

The workshop began with a brief introduction to upcycling techniques, highlighting its importance in reducing textile waste and promoting eco-friendly fashion. Faculty members demonstrated simple yet creative methods such as patchwork, fabric painting, and embellishment to breathe new life into worn-out clothes.

Students enthusiastically experimented with cutting, stitching, and repurposing old garments, creating trendy pieces like denim bags, crop tops, and patchwork jackets. The session encouraged them to think outside the box and explore fashion as a form of self-expression.

Throughout the workshop, students received personalized guidance and creative tips from the faculty, boosting their confidence and design skills. The event also sparked meaningful conversations about sustainable practices and the future of responsible fashion.

By the end of the session, students proudly showcased their upcycled creations, reflecting their creativity and newfound awareness of sustainable design. The workshop not only nurtured their artistic abilities but also inspired them to adopt more conscious fashion choices.
