Workshop on Needle Punch Embroidery: Crafting Creativity with Threads

On August 22nd, 2023, the School of Design at SGT University hosted a hands-on workshop on Needle Punch Embroidery, offering students a unique opportunity to explore this intricate and versatile textile art form. The session aimed at enhancing their creative and technical skills, equipping them with new design techniques to enrich their portfolios.

The workshop began with an introduction to the history and applications of needle punch embroidery, highlighting its roots in traditional handcrafting and its growing popularity in contemporary fashion and home décor. The expert facilitator demonstrated the fundamentals of the craft, including fabric selection, threading the needle punch tool, and creating various stitch patterns.

Students eagerly participated in the practical session, experimenting with different thread colors and textures. They learned how to create raised, textured designs, adding depth and dimension to their fabric surfaces. The interactive nature of the workshop allowed students to seek real-time guidance, improving their precision and confidence with the technique.

By the end of the workshop, participants had produced stunning embroidered swatches, showcasing their newly acquired skills. The event not only introduced them to a new creative outlet but also highlighted the importance of preserving and modernizing traditional craft techniques.
