Psychological support not essential for psychological but for physical too for accepting the wound and permeant scars to not only motivate to live but also to have strong strength to deal with the trauma of the attack. Perpetrators of acid attack throw acid at their victims, usually at their faces, burning them, and damaging skin tissues, often exposing and sometimes dissolving the bones. The long term consequences of these attacks include blindness and permanent scarring of the face and body.
Acid attack is also known as acid violence or vitriol. According to the Law Commission report says that the heinous crime of acid attack has a specific gender dimension in India. The most common acid type used in attacks is hydrochloric, sulphuric and nitric acids. The possible reason may be a rejection of love or marriage proposals, refusal to pay dowry, rejection of sexual approach, property or family disputes. Whereas the result of acid attack turned out asunborable physical pain, psychological trauma, and socio-economic consequences because of serval surgeries and the legal proceedings and make the life of victims worse than death. These attacks are not only emerged as a brutal act but also a human rights violations in that situation the psychological rehabilitation surely give a boost up the dose to not only fight back to survive but also for the get justice for themselves also. Post-traumatic stress is high in females among the acid attack survivors and 85% of victims are women among the acid attack survivors in India. Post-traumatic stress disorder rates in this population are approx. 32.9%surveys shown that reduced memory bias in trauma-exposed participants that surely tested as post-traumatic stress disorders, depression, and panic attacks too.
There are measures taking for the victims through psychological therapies to boost up their motivation and self-confidence to get back, in their previous life with like a new birth along with the past horrible memories.
