I am Shagun, and this is a continuation of a journey that I began a few years ago when I was a bachelor's student at SGT University. Being a proud postgraduate with my master's in English now, I am once again embraced in the comfort of this campus but challenged and inspired in a new way.
As a person who has experienced the undergraduate craze, I entered my master's degree experience with enthusiasm, a feeling of belonging, and a desire to explore further knowledge in the literary area.
After completing my bachelor's here, I had no second thoughts about continuing this journey with SGT. The professors who used to teach me the foundations now challenge me to question, analyze, and interact with literature in a manner I had not previously considered. The culture of learning here does not stop at a certain point—it develops with you.:
What made me stay?
The MA English program has provided me with an academically rewarding experience. Classical literature, feminist literature, sonnets by Shakespeare, postcolonial literature—we read it all. Among my favorite experiences, I would like to note:
Being interested in writing and expression, the Department of English at SGT University has helped me shape my career—not only in academics, but also as a professional.
As a result of research paper writing workshops, I acquired a solid background in literature interpretation, scholarly formatting, and organized writing. The sessions helped me develop my critical thinking and the organization of complicated ideas, as well as their clarification, and it was only a natural extension of these skills outside of the classroom.
This academic background gave me the boldness to venture into the field of content writing. Coursework quickly became work-work, taking the form of writing blogs, educational articles, and SEO-inspired content in service of both the SGT Digital Marketing Team and external sites as well.
I still use the same research-based approach and storytelling skills that I learned in my literature course today to make insights, engaging, and effective content. One of the greatest empowering experiences during my stay at SGT has been the change from academic writing to online content creation.
Probably the most significant aspect of SGT University is the excellent integration of academic and extracurricular activities.
Such events were not only about involvement but also about self-development and self-confidence, finding out new means of showing my love for literature and communication.
Faculty Who Inspire
The English Department professors are amazing. They are scholars, writers, researchers, and most importantly, enthusiastic teachers. It can make complex literary theory less complex or challenge us to think differently about the world, but it has made me think, write and express myself differently.
They are kind, highly educated, and always supportive. Most of them also attend national and international conferences and often bring us along as observers or helpers, and this gives us a small sample of what may be happening in academia outside the campus.
Life on Campus as a PG Student
The perks of being a postgraduate student exist. Campus life is as lively as ever, yet there is also something stable and adult-like in the way that we interact.
Looking Ahead
As I am stepping into my second and last year of master's studies, I am more ready than ever to face the next stage of my life, which will be research, teaching, or content writing.
SGT has not only developed my academic interests but has also developed me as a thinker, communicator, and person. Now I stride these corridors without being afraid, not just because I have learned where I am but because I have learned what I have become.
SGT University has served as my platform of transformation, as I went from being a wide-eyed wanderer in my undergraduate days to an intellectual explorer in my master's. To any student who may be asking himself whether SGT could do anything beyond giving him a degree, the answer is an emphatic yes.
It is a community, a challenge, and a canvas to write your story.
