As a filmmaker, Suraj has been associated with mainstream Hindi cinema and commercial film productions contributing across projects such as Rockstar, Highway, Tamasha, Arjun Patiala, and other studio-backed ventures. His experience in commercial cinema has given him a strong command over large-scale production environments, audience psychology and the mechanics of popular storytelling knowledge he carries seamlessly into independent and experimental work.

Parallel to filmmaking Suraj has curated and managed numerous film festivals across India and around the world working as a festival curator and programmer for international platforms. His festival work extends beyond screenings into cultural exchange programming strategy, filmmaker engagement and institutional collaboration making festivals not just events but living conversations between nations, cultures and ideas.

His contributions to cultural and developmental initiatives include working with the German Embassy as State Coordinator for the “Her & Now” project and collaborations with UNDP, the Canadian Embassy, the Russian Embassy and the Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change. Across these roles he has operated at the convergence of storytelling, policy, gender discourse, sustainability and cultural diplomacy.
