The Association for Pharmaceutical Information (API) under the aegis of SGT College of Pharmacy, SGT University in collaboration with GARDP, IPGA and IPS organized a National Conference on the theme, “Pandemic of Anti-Microbial Resistance: Role of Pharmacist in Preparedness” on Monday, July 3rd, 2023, via hybrid mode. The conference began with welcome by Prof. Vijay Bhalla, Dean, SGT College of Pharmacy, where he stated not to underestimate the power of microbes in the present scenario. This was followed by an address by Prof. O P Kalra, VC, SGT University on clinical perspective of antimicrobial resistance. The chief guest of the event, Dr. Y K Gupta spoke about stakeholder’s role in preparedness of AMR, while the guest of honor, Dr. Subasree Srinivasan, Medical Director, GARDP gave an insight on GARDP, antimicrobial stewardship programs and the role of pharmacist in combatting this pandemic. Dr. Atul Nasa, PVC, SGT University discussed about the regulatory perspectives of antibiotics in India. A fruitful and pertinent panel discussion moderated by Dr. Vijay Bhalla, Dean, followed next including distinguished panel members Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Kumar Sharma, Pro- Chancellor, Dr. Omkar Shetty, Dean, Faculty of Dental Sciences, Mr. Tarun Gupta, Founder and CEO, SiCureMi Healthcare, Dr. Manisha Khandait, HOD, Microbiology, FMHS, Dr. J. N.Verma, MD, Lifecare Innovations and Dr. M. Jayanthi, Professor, JIPMER, Puducherry who had joined virtually. The event ended with a vote of thanks by Prof. Sonal Satya, HOD, Pharmacy Practice, SGT COP. There were more than 200 participants who attended the conference in person and virtually.
