Dr. Sneh Lata joined SGT University in November 2020 as an Associate Professor. She has over 15 years of experience, including eleven years in the industry. She completed her PhD in synthetic organic chemistry as a CSIR fellow from 2003 to 2008. Following her doctoral studies, she entered the industry and gained extensive experience developing research on new chemical entities' process development. After 11 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, she transitioned to academia as an associate professor. She serves as Co-PI and PI of the BIRAC-funded project titled "Novel ULK1 inhibitors for the treatment of resistant cancer patients for improved clinical outcomes" with a funding of 99 lakhs (SGT Share-26.5 Lakhs).
Additionally, she provides consultancy services to industries in organic Synthesis for drug intermediates and impurities. Proficient in developing new chemical scaffolds, she conducts her research in the Central Synthetic Chemistry Lab (CSCL) of SGT University and has established collaborations with various pharmaceutical industries. She has been awarded a SERB-CRG grant of 47.5 lakhs as a PI for a project titled "A first-in-class approach to address chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) by discovering novel selective ROCK2 degraders". Dr Lata has authored several high-impact peer-reviewed publications and participates in international and national conferences, seminars, and workshops. She has supervised numerous post-graduate and undergraduate students in their research projects and contributed to many interdisciplinary research projects related to medicinal and pharmaceutical interests. Her primary research areas include drug discovery (NCEs, API process development), and the custom synthesis of novel organic scaffolds for drug intermediates or impurities.
