Prof. (Dr.) Hemant Verma

Prof Hemant Verma is a distinguished academician, policy leader, and higher education strategist with over 28 years of experience spanning teaching, research, and institutional leadership. He began his career as an Assistant, Associate Professor, and Professor of English at various Government Colleges in Haryana, where he spearheaded innovative academic programs, faculty development workshops, and conferences, fostering a culture of critical inquiry and pedagogical excellence.

Transitioning into educational administration, Prof Verma has served as Deputy Director, Joint Director in Higher Education Department, Haryana and Additional Director of Foreign Cooperation Department, Haryana. In these roles, he has been instrumental in shaping and implementing state-wide policies, drafting legislative acts and university statutes, overseeing the establishment of government and private universities, implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, and fostering international collaborations to advance academic exchange and research partnerships.

Currently, Prof Verma serves as Vice Chancellor of Shree Guru Gobind Singh Tricentenary University, Gurugram, after serving as Principal of Government College, Barwala (Panchkula). As Vice Chancellor, he is providing strategic, academic, administrative, and regulatory leadership to SGT University, a multi-disciplinary private university. He is responsible for institutional governance, accreditation, NAAC/NBA/NIRF planning, academic restructuring, and policy implementation. He is overseeing innovative pedagogical practices, industry linkages, research expansion, and global collaborations. He is leading digital transformation, quality assurance frameworks, and curriculum modernization in accordance with NEP 2020. He has initiated benchmarking the curriculum with reputed national and international universities. He has introduced continuous student assessment through an innovative examination system. Various Policies have been formulated and implemented.

He is recognized for his strategic leadership, visionary policy-making, and commitment to inclusive, quality higher education. A thought leader in English studies, feminist and postcolonial literary theory, and diasporic literature and NEP, 2020, he bridges scholarship with actionable educational reforms, making significant contributions to academic governance, faculty empowerment, and institutional development.
