Dr. Mouparna Roy
Assistant Professor

Dr. Mouparna Roy holds a PhD and an M.Phil. in Media Studies from the School of Social Sciences at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). She also has a Master’s degree in Sociology from JNU and a Bachelor’s in Indigenous Culture Studies from Central University of Jharkhand. For two years, she worked as a Research Assistant for the University of Western Australia on the project "The Effect of Ambient Air Pollution on Altruistic Behavior—Field Experiment Evidence from China and India."
With 5 years of research experience and 1 year of teaching experience, her PhD research explored the intricate aspects of dance writing. Her academic interests lie at the intersection of gender and media studies, focusing on performative studies and cultural narratives. Alongside her academic pursuits, she cultivated a deep appreciation for the arts and holds a degree in Bharatanatyam which has enriched her understanding of discipline, creativity, and cultural heritage. These experiences have also shaped her holistic perspective and enhanced her collaborative and expressive abilities reflected in her research interests.
