Faculty of Law,SGT University organized a workshop on “Behind the yellow tape uncovering the secrets of forensics science” on 10th September 2024 with the Objective to

  • Understand the role of a crime scene investigator.
  • Learn the process of documenting and collecting evidence.
  • Explore various techniques used in forensic analysis.
  • Develop skills in critical thinking and attention to detail.

The experiential learning of the students empowered them by learning about

  • Introduction to Crime Scene Investigation
    • Overview of forensic science and crime scene investigation.
    • The role and responsibilities of a crime scene investigator.
  • Crime Scene Management
    • Securing and isolating the crime scene.
    • Establishing a chain of custody for evidence.
    • Ethical considerations.
  • Evidence Recognition, Documentation, and Collection
    • Types of physical evidence (e.g., fingerprints, DNA, blood spatter).
    • Techniques for evidence collection and preservation.
    • Importance of thorough documentation (sketches, photographs, notes).
  • Practical Session: Mock Crime Scene Investigation
    • Set up a mock crime scene for participants.
    • Participants work in teams to document and collect evidence.
