Assistant Professor

Ms. Somalatha Moly T S is an academician with around 8 years of experience in law teaching and research. She has completed her LL.M. in 'Corporate Governance and Securities Laws' from School of Legal Studies, CUSAT, Cochin and her B.A.L., LL.B. from GLC, Thiruvananthapuram, University of Kerala. TRhereafter, she secured UGC- NET & JRF and joined the Inter University Centre for IPR Studies, CUSAT, Cochin as a UGC Junior Research Fellow to pursue her Ph.D. in Intellectual Property Rights. She was a part of various national and international academic research projects during her tenure as a UGC-JRF fellow and a law teacher. She was the Co-investigator of a project under the GI Diagnostic Studies Initiative commissioned by the Visvesvaraya Trade Promotion Centre, Department of Industries & Commerce, Government of Karnataka. She assisted in the research on 'Patent Policies of the Agricultural Research Institutions in the Asian Region: Innovation Practices in Government Agricultural Research Institutions in Asian Region' for the Visionary IP Professors Roundtable held at East China University of Political Science and Law, Shanghai, China and a project on Gene Patenting commissioned by Third World Network. Somalatha has multiple research publications and paper presentations to her credit. She has acted as a resource person/invited speaker in several national and international academic events. Her areas of interest include Intellectual Property Rights with a special focus on IP-Agriculture interface, Farmers' rights and Competition Law.
