Mr. Sumit Kumar Ganguly

Sumit Kumar Ganguly has completed his BA (Hons.), LLB (Hons.) from National Law University, Jodhpur. He had scored the highest marks overall in the subjects of Constitutional Law Honours. He has done his LLM from Azim Premji University, Bengaluru. He was awarded 50% scholarship on his LLM tuition fees. He has qualified the UGC-NET. He started his career in the social sector as a part of a fellowship programme spanning across three states. In that, he has worked on various issues concerning the rights of the fisherfolk community in coastal Gujarat. He has also worked as a political consultant with a company for the 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly Elections. Before joining academics, he was working as an Advocate in the Calcutta High Court, District Courts and Tribunals in West Bengal. He had enrolled himself in the West Bengal Bar Council and has cleared the AIBE. He has the experience of working as a Visiting Faculty in a private university in Kolkata. He is a Contributor to “What’s New in Public Law” section of the I-CONnect: The Blog of the International Journal of Constitutional Law. He has been the Co-Convener (Academic) of Indian History Awareness and Research (IHAR) Foundation’s West Bengal Chapter. He is the Coordinator of the Legal Cell of Nikhil Banga Bangali Samanway Samiti (an organisation working for the welfare of Bengalis uprooted from East Pakistan/Bangladesh). His articles has been published in The Statesman newspaper and the Counterview blog.
