Environmental Fest 2025
Dr. Rajendra Singh, the legendary "Waterman of India, "The Stockholm Water Prize (Nobel Prize of Water) and Ramon Magsaysay awardee inspired hearts and minds at Environmental Fest-2025 organized by Kadam Club, Department of Environmental Science in Association with academic Club Anvaya.
Dr. Singh raised the voice of Earth for the Earth through an energetic and powerful interactive session with an audience of more than 150 from different universities. He shared insights from his remarkable 40-year journey of working with rural communities for water conservation.
With his extensive knowledge spanning science geo-morphology, geo-hydrology, and agriculture, Dr. Singh eloquently explained the process of revival of the rivers and water conservation through community participation. He emphasized the profound difference between "shiksha" (education) and "vidya" (knowledge), urging everyone to prioritize society and nature in our learning journey. Dr. Singh reminded us how ancient Indians were the gurus of the world who worshipped nature as Bhagwan, beautifully elaborating on the Sanskrit word "भगवान" and how it encompasses भूमि (earth), गगन (sky), वायु (air), अग्नि (fire), and नीर (water). "Dr. Singh emphasized the importance of water, stating that 'water is climate, and the climate is water.'"
The audience was captivated as Dr. Singh shared inspiring stories of transformation, describing how he guided countless "pathless, and hopeless" farmers and youth back to the mainstream of society through the active participation of rural women.
The event concluded with an exciting valedictory session featuring prizes for battle of ideas, EcoQuest-quiz competition, poster and reel making competitions.
