Mr. Asit Kumar is a seasoned higher education administrator and senior institutional management professional with over four decades of diverse administrative experience across the Indian Air Force, premier institutions of higher education, public sector, and corporate organisations. Mr. Kumar served the Indian Air Force for 20 years, where he was associated with General Administration, Human Resource Management, Welfare, and Security. Following his distinguished service in the IAF, he served in various administrative capacities at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad and Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited (BVFCL), gaining extensive experience in campus administration, estate and facility management, legal matters, procurement, security, and institutional coordination. He subsequently joined the National Institute of Technology Durgapur (NIT Durgapur) in 2013 as Deputy Registrar and was promoted to Joint Registrar in 2019. During his tenure of more than 13 years at NIT Durgapur, he handled a wide range of critical institutional responsibilities, including establishment and personnel administration, recruitment, staff welfare and development, legal and RTI matters, procurement and stores, outsourced manpower management, protocol, public outreach, and coordination with government authorities. He also served as Registrar (In-Charge) on several occasions. An ex-serviceman and Kargil War veteran, Mr. Kumar has been recognised for his dedication, efficiency, and exemplary service throughout his career. After taking Voluntary Retirement from Government Service, Mr. Kumar has joined SGT University as Registrar, bringing with him extensive experience in academic administration, institutional governance, human resource management, legal and regulatory matters, procurement, infrastructure, and overall university administration. His professional philosophy is grounded in integrity, discipline, institutional excellence, and service, with a strong commitment to strengthening administrative systems and supporting the effective functioning and growth of higher education institutions.
