Biologicals for Sustainable Agriculture

On 23rd September 2025, students from the B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture, M.Sc. Agricultural Sciences and Agribusiness Management had attended BASAI (Biologicals for Sustainable Agriculture) 2025 at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The event emphasized how biofertilizers, biopesticides, and biostimulants are shaping the future of sustainable farming, offering climate-resilient solutions for crops, enhancing soil health, and tackling global food security challenges.The event provided students with exposure to innovations in sustainable agriculture relevant to crop improvement and plant breeding.

Students attended insightful sessions on:

  • BioAgri Inputs for Crop Production – Dr. Sanjay Kumar (IPFT), Mr. Amit Dube (Margo Biocontrol)
  • Women Entrepreneurs in Agri-Biologicals – Ms. Amrita Kumari (Dayal Group), Ms. Sailaja Nori (Sea6Energy)
  • Biological-Based Fertilizers – Dr. Jitendra Singh (AquaAgri), Dr. Debabrata Sarkar
  • Hydroponics & Water-Soluble Fertilizers – Mr. J.P. Singh (Farmer & Hydroponics Expert), Mr. Supal Sharma (Water-Soluble Fertilizer Expert)

Through interactions with senior scientists, industry leaders, and sustainability advocates, students explored emerging career pathways, gained real-world insights, and connected academic knowledge with practical innovations in agriculture.

The visit was coordinated by Dr. Bhawna Kalra (Associate Professor) and accompanied by Mr. Naveen Sharma (Assistant Professor).
