The B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture is a four-year undergraduate degree programme in Agricultural Sciences designed to equip students with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills required to address contemporary challenges in agriculture. The programme is offered by the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences (FASC), SGT University, which is accredited by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), ensuring adherence to national academic standards and quality benchmarks. The curriculum is multidisciplinary in nature, integrating core domains such as Agronomy, Horticulture, Soil Science, Plant Breeding and Genetics, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Agricultural Economics, Extension Education, and Seed Science. In addition, the programme incorporates emerging and advanced areas including Precision Agriculture, Biotechnology, Internet of Things (IoT), and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), thereby preparing students for future-ready agricultural practices. A distinguishing feature of the programme is its strong emphasis on experiential learning. Students gain hands-on exposure through laboratory experiments, field training, research farm activities, and protected cultivation structures such as polyhouses. Structured components like Rural Agricultural Work Experience (RAWE), Agro-Industrial Attachment (AIA), and Experiential Learning Units (ELUs) provide real-world exposure to farming systems, agribusiness operations and value addition practices. The programme fosters innovation, entrepreneurship, and practical problem-solving abilities, encouraging students to engage in agri-startups and large-scale production systems. Graduates of the programme are well-prepared to pursue diverse career pathways in government services, research and development, agribusiness industries, startups and higher education.
