
Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) & Biochemistry
The Department of Medical Laboratory Technology was established under the Faculty of Allied
Health Sciences, SGT University in the year 2013. The vision of the department is to create
world-class committed medical laboratory professionals who can contribute meaningful
contributions in healthcare setups, patient care, and research.
Department of Medical Laboratory Technology and Biochemistry plays a vital role in
healthcare by training professionals who perform diagnostic tests, analyze biological
samples, and contribute to patient care. This field bridges medical science and technology,
equipping students with the skills needed to operate sophisticated laboratory equipment and
ensure accurate test results. The curriculum combines theoretical knowledge and practical
training in clinical microbiology, biochemistry, hematology, histology, human anatomy,
physiology, hospital management, immunology, and molecular diagnostics.

Medical Laboratory Technicians work behind the scenes in healthcare, supporting physicians
and specialists in diagnosing and treating diseases. Their work is critical to early
detection, disease prevention, and patient care.
This course offers a vast career opportunity for both graduates and postgraduates.
Graduates can work in hospitals and clinics, research laboratories, pharmaceutical and
biotechnology companies, public health departments, veterinary laboratories, and forensic
