Dr. Vibha Madan Jha

Dr Vibha Madan Jha is the Head of the Department of Neurosciences at the School of Allied Health Sciences. She holds a PhD in Neuroscience from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania, USA. With nearly two decades of research experience, Dr Jha's expertise spans sleep neuroscience, the functions of sleep, learned helplessness and environmental enrichment. Her broader research interests encompass neurophysiology, sleep disorders, neuropathologies and translational neuroscience. She has published widely in reputed national and international journals and frequently serves as a peer reviewer. She is also the author of Sleep: Evolution and Functions and the editor of Sleep, Memory and Synaptic Plasticity, both published by Springer Nature.

An accomplished academician, Dr Jha has received several prestigious awards for academic excellence, including the Dr Ramji Narain Omvati Gold Medal and University Gold Medal from Panjab University, Chandigarh, for outstanding performance during her BSc (Honours) and MSc (Honours) in Biochemistry. She is actively involved in teaching, research, curriculum development, and mentoring undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students, with a commitment to advancing neuroscience education and research.
