Dr. Poonam Talwar (Sharma)

Dr. Poonam Talwar (Sharma) is an accomplished academician, researcher, special educator, and educational administrator with over 7 years of experience in teaching, research, training, and institutional leadership. She is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Special Education, Faculty of Education, SGT University, Gurugram, where she has been contributing since August 2021. She also serves as the Head of Udaan School for Experiential Learning, a flagship best-practice initiative of SGT University dedicated to providing educational, therapeutic, vocational, and experiential learning opportunities for children with special needs.

She holds a Ph.D. in Education, M.Ed. (Special Education–Intellectual Disability), B.Ed. (Special Education–Intellectual Disability), M.A. in Psychology, and an MBA in Marketing. Her areas of expertise include Inclusive Education, Intellectual Disability, Behaviour Management, Curriculum Development, Assessment and Intervention Strategies, Teacher Education, and Family-Centred Practices.

Dr. Talwar is actively engaged in research, innovation, and professional capacity building in the field of Special and Inclusive Education. She has served as a Resource Person in several RCI-approved CRE programmes, workshops, conferences, and faculty development initiatives. Her academic contributions include publications in SCOPUS-indexed and UGC CARE-listed journals, authorship of books and book chapters for Special Education curricula, and the development of educational tools, training modules, patents, and copyrights. Her research primarily focuses on behaviour modification, sibling training, assistive technology, individualized educational planning, and evidence-based practices that foster inclusion and empowerment of individuals with disabilities.
