Expert Lecture on “Corrosion in Concrete – The Silent Killer of RCC"
Updated on: 26 August 2026
The Department of CivilEngineering, School of Engineering and Technology (SOET), SGT University, organised an expert lecture on “Corrosion in Concrete – The Silent Killer ofRCC” on 26 August 2026 for the undergraduate (UG) students of the Department of Civil Engineering. Dr. Sunil Garhwal,Manager, Design, Dhariwal Build Tech., Gurugram, was speaker in the session. With his vast experience in the field of structural engineering, Dr. SunilGarhwal provided valuable insights into the causes, effects, and challenges associated with corrosion in reinforced cement concrete (RCC) structures. The session was focused on corrosion associated with structural distress, its impact on the durability and service life of RCC structures. The expert lecture offered students an opportunity to connect their classroom knowledge with project sites related structural engineering practices. The session elicited the students’ understanding of structural durability, with the importance of economical engineering practices for the prevention of corrosion in concrete structures.
