Technical Exposure Visit to Delhi Metro Casting Yard, Pushpa Bhawan, New Delhi

On 10 February 2026, the Department of Civil Engineering, School of Engineering & Technology, SGT University, Gurugram, organized a one-day technical exposure visit to the Delhi Metro Casting Yard at Pushpa Bhawan, New Delhi. The visiting team comprised 12 B.Tech. Civil Engineering students, accompanied by Dr. Amar Deep Pandey, Assistant Professor, CED. The student team was supported and guided by Er. Vibhanshu, Assistant Engineer, whose technical inputs significantly enriched the learning experience. The site visit provided practical exposure to the manufacturing of key precast metro components such as U-sections, box segments, and I-sections. Students observed the complete production process, including shuttering, reinforcement detailing, casting, curing, and pre- and post-tensioning techniques to ensure strength, precision, and durability. A key highlight was the interaction with the Quality Control Laboratory team, where students learned about material testing, strength assessment, dimensional checks, and quality assurance procedures followed to maintain strict safety and performance standards. This site visit served as an important platform to bridge classroom learning with real-world construction practices, deepening students’ understanding of advanced precast technology and modern metro infrastructure development. The experience reflects the Department’s continuous commitment to experiential learning, industry collaboration, and outcome-based technical education.
