Prof. (Dr.) Avnish Pathak is a distinguished academician, clinician, and researcher with 15 years of
teaching and clinical experience. He holds a BAMS and M.S. (Ayurveda) degree and has made
significant contributions to Ayurvedic surgery, particularly in the field of Shalya Tantra. He has
authored 11 research publications, participated in over 60 national and international conferences,
seminars, and workshops, and has received three prestigious national/international awards in
recognition of his professional excellence.
Prior to joining SGT University, Dr. Pathak served as the Incharge of the AYUSH Approved Ano-
Rectal Clinic at SDM College of Ayurveda & Hospital, Hassan, Karnataka, where he gained extensive
expertise in the management of anorectal disorders. He is an active member of the National Susrutha
Association, Banaras Hindu University, and the All India Shareera Research Foundation, Lucknow
(Uttar Pradesh). His outstanding services in the healthcare sector earned him the Rashtriya Seva
Bhushan Award, presented by the MLA of Hassan District, Karnataka. He was also recognized among
the Top Ten Doctors at SDM College of Ayurveda & Hospital and was honored by the Secretary,
SDM Educational Society, Ujire, Karnataka. Additionally, he has served as the Organizing Secretary
of Proctocon-2017 and the program on Sensitising Allopathic Doctors, both organized by the
Department of Shalya Tantra at SDM College of Ayurveda & Hospital.
Dr. Pathak's teaching interests include anorectal diseases and gastrointestinal disorders, while his
research focuses on the Ayurvedic management of wounds, the comparative healing effects of Kshar
Sutra therapy and laser surgery, and advancements in minimally invasive Ayurvedic surgical
techniques. He is widely recognized as a specialist in Kshar Sutra therapy for the management of
hemorrhoids, fistula-in-ano, and pilonidal sinus, as well as an expert in Agnikarma for the treatment
of osteoarthritis. His clinical expertise also extends to the management of skin tags and piles, making
him a respected name in the field of Ayurvedic surgery.
