Shree Guru Gobind Singh Tricentenary University (SGT University), one of the renowned universities in Gurugram, has set up a Sudhir Mishra Centre for ESG, Environmental Law & Climate Change’(SMCEC) on their campus to honor his remarkable contribution in the field of environment and climate.

The Centre would work alongside the firm Trust Legal Advocates & Consultants, founded by Mr. Sudhir Mishra, which is one of the best law firms in the fields of ESG and environmental laws and has several accolades to its name. The center would be headed by Dr. Richa Chaudhary, Dean, Faculty of Law, along with Mr. Manmohan Singh Chawla, Founder & Managing Trustee at SGT, as the Patron-in-Chief, and Mr. Sudhir Mishra as the Patron.

The partners and the team of Trust Legal would also be actively involved in the working of the center, with Ms. Petal Chandhok, partner, Trust Legal, and Ms. Swasti Misra, senior associate, Trust Legal, acting as the ex-officio members for the center. Speaking on the institution of the Centre, Mr. Sudhir Mishra said, It is an honor and privilege to have an ESG and Climate Law Centre in my name. Apart from just being a matter of pride, it comes with a whole set of responsibilities, as a bunch of younger generations of environmental and climate enthusiasts will now be looking up to me for inspired action. My duty as an environmental crusader has now doubled, and I will ensure to put in a hundred percent effort to deliver the same and make the Centre a foremost center of excellence.”

Mr. Sudhir Mishra is a renowned environmental lawyer and has been in talks for his advocacy for the climate rights of the citizens. In a very recent case related to the impact of carbon emissions on the environment and necessitating an examination of the legal regime regulating such emissions, he has been appointed as the case He has been appointed as Amici Curiae by the Supreme Court of India.

The newly established center is inspired by the outstanding work of the central empowered committee of the Hon'ble Supreme Court, a very powerful environmental law management body that has issued numerous orders and monitored protected areas, flora, and fauna throughout the nation over the past 20 years.

Mr. Manmohan Chawla expresses his gratitude to Sudhir Mishra, saying that we are really honored that he had allowed us to set up this dynamic center under his name, which will foster new paradigms in the field of environmental studies. As a cutting-edge student think tank and hub for climate change ESG research, the Center seeks to function as a center of excellence. In addition to supporting community involvement programs, it would serve as a premier nature and ESG interpretive center. Intellectual property rights pertaining to student initiatives, climate change, and ESG would be created by the center. The Center also plans to collaborate and partner with pollution control boards, corporations, governments, corporate sustainability departments, embassies, and other esteemed organizations. "The Center aims to give its students the best academic knowledge along with direct industry interface through internships and cooperative projects, preparing them for a better future," said Ms. Richa Chaudhary, dean of SGT University's Faculty of Law.
