Updated on: June 9th, 2026
Students, parents, educators, and dignitaries gathered at SGT University to celebrate academic excellence at the Dainik Jagran Pratibha Samman 2026 event.
On 9 June 2026, Shree Guru Gobind Singh Tricentenary University (SGT), among the top leading private universities in Gurugram, partnered with Dainik Jagran to host the Pratibha Samman (Honour of Talent) event at the C-Block Auditorium in Gurugram. The event was dedicated to recognising the academic achievements of high-performing Class 12 students from the 2025–26 session. As young achievers moved from school to higher education, the event offered a great opportunity for students, parents, teachers, and senior public officials to come together and celebrate.
Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders
The event started with a warm welcome note, followed by a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, a ritual long associated with knowledge and learning. Rather than the usual mementoes, SGT University honoured its distinguished guests, Shri Sibash Kabiraj, Police Commissioner, Gurugram, Shri Karan Goel, IPS, DCP West, and Mr Aditya Raj, Bureau Chief, Dainik Jagran, Gurugram, with plant saplings, a gesture reflecting the University's commitment to environmental responsibility.
The host highlighted Dainik Jagran's major contribution to society and the media industry, pointing out that it is one of India's most widely read news media organizations, reaching about 28 crore people through its print editions and digital platforms.
Dr. Anjana Dash, speaking on behalf of SGT University, discussed the university's academic atmosphere, its research-focused labs, and the variety of options available to new students, including Anvaya, the central body that oversees all academic clubs at the University. She gave a summary of SGT University using a PowerPoint presentation, emphasizing its 200+ programs, resources, and general student experience.
Words of Wisdom from the Dignitaries
Shri Sibash Kabiraj, Police Commissioner, Gurugram, addressed the importance of responsible decision-making, discipline, and personal health. He advised students to make thoughtful decisions and to avoid the consumption of alcohol, drugs, and other negative influences. Additionally, he advised parents to support their children's true interests rather than putting unnecessary pressure on them after Class 12. He encouraged the students to contribute to Viksit Bharat 2047 through diligent study and responsible citizenship.
Shri Karan Goel, IPS, spoke about the rising risks associated with cybercrime and social media abuse, especially among girl children. He warned students against accepting or forwarding unverified content online and underlined the need to stay alert to digital fraud.
Prof. (Dr.) Hemant Verma, Vice Chancellor of SGT University, stressed the importance of making well-informed choices when selecting a higher education institution. He highlighted SGT University's industry-focused curriculum, research opportunities, and professional development activities, while encouraging students to select universities aligned with their future goals.
Closing the addresses, Mr Aditya Raj drew on the philosophy of Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, observing that a person's true character reveals itself through their conduct, values, and work.
Celebrating the Stars of Success
A defining moment of the event was the award ceremony, in which close to 500 students who had secured 70% or higher in their Class 12 board examinations received medals and certificates in recognition of their effort and success. The awards were conferred by Shri Sibash Kabiraj, joined by Shri Karan Goel, IPS, Prof. (Dr.) Hemant Verma, Dr Joginder, and Mr Amrit Chawla.
Beyond the recognition, students and parents had the chance to speak with the University's academic counsellors and faculty about higher education options, including available programmes and merit-based scholarship support for eligible candidates.
Final Thoughts
The Pratibha Samman 2026 event was both a celebration of past accomplishments and a motivation for what lies ahead. In celebrating this year's Class 12 achievers, SGT University and Dainik Jagran highlighted their joint commitment to academic excellence.
