Dr. Ritwik Ghosh
Associate Professor
With over 20 years of experience in the media industry and over eight years in academia, Dr Ritwik Ghosh has worked with leading organizations such as the BBC, All India Radio, Financial Times and the Saudi Royal Commission. Currently he serves as an Associate Professor at School of Emerging Media, Communication and Film Studies at SGT University, Gurugram, India.
Dr Ghosh holds a Ph.D. in Journalism and Mass Communication, his dissertation was on Fake News on Social Media. His current research interests and area of work involve computational media, human computer interaction (HCI), emerging and new media like AR/VR, AI and robotics in media. He has also developed projects around it.
Dr Ghosh's experience in media spans from electronic news media, RTV production, photography, PR, advertising and digital marketing to entertainment media. His technical expertise extends to audio, music production, camera, editing, lighting and direction. He has worked on corporate films, documentaries and other media projects.
In the early stages of his career he has worked professionally as a creative director for performing arts, theater and choreography productions, where he designed and executed the entire multimedia, music, projections, sound and lights, alongside a career as a sound engineer and a music producer. All this has broadened his perspective of media further, that is, media as an art form and a medium of communication and expression. Being a qualified musician and a performer, he has played in bands and composed a lot of music.
From time to time he is involved in social outreach activities. He has led workshops, campaigns and initiatives on media and digital literacy, fact-checking, fake news verification and AI & new media, extending these efforts to school children, media students and rural areas of India. He was a part of the launch team for an all-women’s community radio, 'Radio Sabrang' too.
