Guest lecture cum workshop on ‘Poutporri of interesting cases’
A Guest lecture cum workshop on ‘Poutporri of interesting cases’ was organized by the Department of Pathology, FMHS, SGT University on Friday, 26 September 25 at 09.30 am onwards at C Block, attended by all the faculty members and PG students of the Department of Pathology.
Introduction to event:
The subject expert speaker, Dr. Nalini Bansal Gupta is a renowned expert in pathology with over 18 years of experience in histopathology. She's a gold medalist in MD Pathology and has received the UICC Technical Fellowship at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham University. Dr. Gupta has published numerous papers and is an associate editorial board member of the Indian Journal of Pathology and Microbiology. She was introduced to the audience by Dr Rajeev Sen, HOD Pathology, FMHS.
Dr. Sansar Chand Sharma (Dean), Dr. PK Sharma- Medical suprident and Dr. MahaSingh- AMS graced the inauguration of the event.
Objective of the event:
Recent diagnostic updates in accordance with current guidelines , immunohistochemistry and molecular aspects was highlighted. These have much relevance due to it’s impact on understanding the sub cellular alterations leading to disease, therapeutic implications for targeted therapy and risk stratification / prognostic aspects of the patients.
Benefit in terms of learning/skill/knowledge obtained:
The above was conducted in three sessions. The first session comprised seminar on interesting cases of Gastric biopsy followed by a second session consisted of histopathology slide seminar for the PG Residents. The session lasted for 3 hours.
Overall, it was an enriching experience for all the PG residents and faculty. Considerable interest was evoked among the audience with excellent interaction during the question and answer sessions. Some photographs of the event are placed as an enclosure.
