Programme overview
The M.Sc. Strength & Conditioning at SGT University prepares graduates to
design, deliver
and lead evidence-based strength & conditioning (S&C) practice across athletic, clinical and
performance settings. The curriculum integrates advanced exercise physiology,
biomechanics, performance analysis, applied coaching practice and research methods so that
graduates are capable of working with high-performance athletes, teams and allied health
professionals.
This one-year intensive programme combines laboratory-based teaching, applied field
placements, micro-certifications and a supervised research project to develop technical
competence, critical appraisal skills and professional leadership in S&C.
Programme learning outcomes
On successful completion graduates will be able to:
- Design and implement periodised, evidence-based strength & conditioning programmes for athletes across sporting codes and performance levels.
- Apply advanced knowledge of neuromuscular function, biomechanics and exercise physiology to optimise performance and reduce injury risk.
- Conduct and interpret athlete testing and monitoring using laboratory and field-based technologies (force platforms, wearable sensors, video analysis, physiological testing).
- Use quantitative research methods and performance analysis to evaluate training efficacy and inform practice.
- Integrate sports nutrition, recovery strategies and injury-management principles into athlete programmes.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with coaches, medical staff and athletes.
- Plan and execute an independent applied research project with appropriate ethical governance and dissemination.
Facilities & partnerships
Learners will have access to SGT’s on-campus gym and performance facilities, biomechanics and physiology laboratories, and performance analysis suites. The School maintains active ties with National Sports Federations and organisations for placements and applied projects, including (but not limited to) Special Olympics Bharat, select state federations, Sports Authority of India (SAI) placements and external sports organisations.
