Dr. S. Krishna Mohan Rao

Dr. S. Krishna Mohan Rao is a distinguished academician, researcher, and administrator with an illustrious career spanning over three decades. With 18 years of industrial and research experience in senior positions both in India and abroad, coupled with 11 years of academic experience, he has made significant contributions to engineering education and institutional development.
As a principal for 10 years in NAAC ‘A’ Grade and NBA-accredited institutions, Dr. Rao has played a pivotal role in implementing Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and has been instrumental in setting up engineering colleges from inception to accreditation. His expertise extends to the establishment of private universities, ensuring academic excellence and institutional growth.
His contributions to academia and research are commendable, with twelve international journal publications, 12 national journal publications, and the successful guidance of ten Ph.D. scholars. He has also led multiple research and consultancy projects, including two funded research projects from NALCO (a Navaratna PSU) and five consultancy projects for various Government of Odisha departments. Additionally, his contributions to innovation and intellectual property include two published patents and one under examination.
Dr. Rao's leadership and contributions have earned him several accolades, including:
- Best Principal Award by ISTE, Odisha Chapter
- Best Engineering College Award by ISTE, Odisha
- Appreciation Award from ISRO
- Recognition as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO)
Beyond academia, he actively contributes to national initiatives, serving as the President of the Institute Innovation Council under the Ministry of Education (MHRD), Government of India and as the Director of the Institute MSME Incubation Centre, recognized by the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India.
He is also a member of NAAC assessment and AICTE – Margdarshan for improving the quality of technical institutions.
A strong advocate of skill development, Dr. Rao has initiated various skill enhancement programs, empowering students with industry-relevant competencies. As an editor of three international journals and a contributor to two book chapters, he continues to influence the research landscape.
With his visionary leadership, extensive research acumen, and commitment to academic excellence, Dr. S. Krishna Mohan Rao remains a trailblazer in engineering education and institutional innovation.
