Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav
Assistant Professor
Ph.D
Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav is a dedicated educator and researcher in the field of Geotechnical and Geo-Environmental Engineering. He earned his PhD and MTech from the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology Patna and Indian Institutes of Technology Guwahati, respectively, after obtaining his BTech. in Civil Engineering. His research focuses on developing sustainable ground amendment and improvement techniques and innovative waste utilization strategies. Dr. Yadav's doctoral work involved an extensive experimental investigation into biochar-amended soils for enhancing geotechnical properties and environmental performance. His expertise spans soil mechanics, soil-water retention, landfill liner systems, and the characterization of expansive soils. Dr. Yadav has a robust publication record in high-impact, international journals such as Scientific Reports, Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering etc. He has presented his research at prestigious national and international conferences. His research achievements have earned broad recognition, highlighted by several esteemed national and international travel grants and awards, including the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) Foundation Award and funding support from Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) and Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR). He is also an awardee of prestigious Government of India fellowships from the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and the Ministry of Education (MoE) for his master's and doctoral study at IIT Guwahati and IIT Patna, respectively. As an educator, Dr. Yadav brings seven years of teaching assistant experience from his graduate studies at IIT Guwahati and IIT Patna, where he has taught and mentored students in courses like Soil Mechanics, Geoenvironmental Engineering, and Engineering Geology. As a dedicated mentor, Dr. Yadav guided a cohort of more than six undergraduate and four postgraduate students through their research projects, fostering the next generation of engineers. Dr. Yadav is committed to advancing knowledge in sustainable geotechnical practices and inspiring the next generation of engineers. His dedication to the academic community is evidenced by his leadership as President of the IGS IIT Patna Students’ Chapter and his role in organizing various nations, international conferences, and workshops.
