The primary driver of green job is a massive change in the global environmental policies and laws. ESG reporting has evolved from voluntary to mandatory legal requirements. At the global level, in the European Union, the CSRD (Corporate Sustainable Reporting Directive) has set global benchmarks, and the large companies need to disclose their environmental and social impacts. The effects of these rules are not limited to the European Union territory but affecting thousands of non-European companies with major operations in Europe. Similarly, GRI (Global Reporting Initiative and TCFD (Task Force on Climate Related Financial Disclosures) aligned reporting has become a benchmark for investors and regulators throughout the world.
In India, Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report (BRSR) has been made mandatory for top listed 1000 companies by Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). The climate policy of corporate has been reshaped by European Union's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), India's Net Zero Emission by 2070, Panchamrit pledges at COP26 and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol Corporate Standard.
